<RESOLVED> Recommend or warn about multi touch monitor? I need to get one but...

I was looking on Newegg at the Planar 23.6" LED touch monitor and some of the reviews said that it did not work well with Windows 8 recent updates and that Planar said they were not writing any new drivers... so I am concerned. I want to get something that will work well and will continue to work and be supported.
Do you have any suggestions about what monitors or brands to look at. I was going to go with Planar but the comment about them not providing new drivers concerns me. I'd rather spend under 500 bucks than spend 700+ but I don't know what to do. I also noticed that some have 5ms latency and others have 12+ms latency, I think this could be a real aggravation at 12ms but I'm not sure.
I'm not sure if I'm getting W8 or 8.1 but I'll know later today. (Studiocat Pro arriving today). I have a couple of older 19" Dell monitors I am going to try to use until I can get the right touch screens, I'm thinking of starting with one in the 24" range then going to two, or just getting one 27", but I'm thinking that two in the 24" range will be more versatile unless there will be more latency or other problems I haven't thought of. It's all I can do to keep myself from running down to Walmart or Staples to get whatever they have but I'll wait. LOL. I know I'll pay two prices at Staples but Walmart may actually have something I can use at a good price, but I don't know.
Thanks for the help.

    Hi Julien,

FWIW, I'm running the 27" Planar Helium here (with Windows 8.1).
Though I don't rely strictly on the multi-touch monitor (also use mouse/keyboard), I haven't noticed any issues.

Your DAW will have Windows 8.1.

    Thanks Jim,

I'll look at that and see if there is a comparable 24".
    Going to look now.

I ordered the 27" Planar Helium Touch Screen. 3 day rush!
You know the 24" Helium was over 150 dollars more.

Thanks Jim, I bet I will!
I looked at DVI cables today but the cheapest I could find was 20 bucks and since I ordered the Planar yesterday with 3 day shipping and paid an extra 2.99 for "rush", and I have grandkids here through most of Monday.. I'm just going to wait until I get the Planar instead of trying to make an older monitor work... though, I will still likely get a DVI cable and use both monitors. I bet I can find one cheaper... heck, I may have one somewhere. I have almost as many cables as Guitar Center. I save everything like that. I'll look, in any case when I get 'er fired up I'll give a call.

There are DVI cables out there that do not have the full pinout... Make sure they have. And then I had this converter (to HDMI) and one pole was even different....

Does the touchscreen need an extra usb connection or will it work over HDMI/DVI? HDMI 1.4 should have a wider protocol than DVI? Or do they work with the same featureset only difference is the cable?
