[RESOLVED] Stuck Sustain w/Arturia Analog Experience

I'm having a difficult time trying to sort out a sustain pedal issue using Arturia Analog Experience The Laboratory 49 key controller and software in X3 (and previous versions as well).

For example, if I set the polarity of the sustain pedal so that it works properly with the Arturia controller and software, then when I switch to another track using a different VST, I get the opposite effect (i.e. stuck sustain).  Conversely, if I switch the polarity of the pedal to work with the non-Arturia VST and go back to the track using Arturia, I get stuck sustain on the Arturia track.

I've tried reversing the Min/Max LSB range from 0 to 127 to 127 to 0 and I still get the same problem.

Has anyone experienced this and found a solution?  Arturia synths sound good, but they are SO buggy that I'm tempted to just get rid of it.

Yeah, I have the latest firmware installed.

It occurred to me that maybe using a simple instrument track was causing the problem.  So I added the Arturia VST using separate MIDI and Audio tracks and that seemed to solve the problem.  This made me think that simple instrument tracks were indeed the culprit.  But this morning, I go to test my theory and of course the stuck sustain is not happening with simple instrument tracks.  In fact, the problem is not occurring at all (for now ).  Oh well, at least it seems to have resolved itself.

You may never know exactly what happened, and maybe it will come back.

I have NEVER been a fan of simple instrument tracks - I do not trust them and never will, in addition to their limitations.

I now use only Cakewalk's remaining 32-bit plugins, all else is 64-bit, and I also use plain old separate audio and midi tracks, and I take faithful backups of all, keep Windows up to current maintenance levels, and everything just WORKS.  :)

Glad you are back to being productive with your setup - best of success and creativity to you.

    Bob,
Thanks.  I actually preferred simple instrument tracks as I'd migrated from Project5 to Sonar after P5 was discontinued.  But I've noticed little oddities here and there with them and have begun to use separate tracks.  I agree that it does give the user much better control.  Although it makes for a somewhat more cluttered look vs. simple instrument tracks, I'll take stability over looks any day.

Like you, I keep, or at least attempt to keep, everything up-to-date, etc.  And I very rarely use 32-bit VSTs/effects anymore.  And in the increasingly rare event that I do have to use them, I'll just pop open the 32-bit version of Sonar.
