I'm confused.  You say Riff file create failed yet you say you are importing.  I was able to import a riff file in to Sonar Platinum.

What Cakewalk product are you using?  1.33 ghz and 2gig seems a little light on specs.  It it below the minimum specs for Sonar products

Try deleting the contents of the picture cache folder to see if that helps. You can find the location in Preferences-->File-->Audio Data-->Picture Folder. If needed the size of the cache can be set in Preferences-->Audio-->Configuration File-->PicCacheMB which might be a consideration based on your system specs.

Try moving the files to import to the same drive where the project or SONAR program files are located. This should avoid any permissions problem.
