Aw man I loved Dallas as a kid. My mother watched it religiously and every Wednesday evening we'd have to eat dinner in front of the TV because it was Dallas night. I loved the chemistry between Larry Hagman and Ken Kercheval who played Cliff Barnes. And of course I had a major crush on Victoria Principal (still hate Patrick Duffy to this day). I also had a strange older-woman-crush on Miss Ellie played by Barbara Bel Geddes, a fine looking woman.

Watched a couple of the early episodes online not so long back....they have stood the test of time.

    HATED Dynasty.

    Sad news.  RIP, Larry.

Did you guys know that Larry Hagman was Mary Martin's son?  (If you don't know who she is, google her, I can't be arsed to do everything for ya!).  And my wife and I stayed at a B&B in the house where Mary Martin grew up in Weatherford, TX.  I thought that was pretty cool.

    You know what saddens me?

Someone celebrity dies and people are going R.I.P and omg that's soooo sad, and what have they done? Played a gaudy cheese show in the 80s

Dennis Ritchie dies and it's hardly even mentioned, for shame

really Kenneth?  that's a little harsh isn't it?

if you're talking about Dennis Ritchie the computer scientist then he died over a year ago.  if you're talking about a musician - I don't know who he was, so maybe instead of hating people for lamenting a favorite celebrity you could start another thread doing the same for him?

He did a little more than that. A bit mean-spirited that was Kenneth.

Larry always came across as a nice fellow in the interviews I heard, self-deprecating and quietly spoken. RIP.

I'm not hating anyone for anything, don't know where you're getting hate from?  but when celebrities that have done nothing are lamented, but truly great people that have done more for the world that anyone can imagine are left virtually unspoken of, that makes me sad.

See, you didn't even know who I was talking about, I mean Dennis Ritchie, the creator of the C programming language, who else could I be referring to?

But a celebrity of some 80s show, oh you know that guy like he was family.

I didn't really want to take this any further, just something that's been on my mind for a while, but you addressed me personally, there's your reply, let's not derail this topic any more.

I loved Larry Hagman, he's been around since my childhood and appeared in many things that have left fond memories.  Not least the Dallas revival series where you got the distinct impression that he wasn't going to be around much longer but was merely celebrating part of the career he was famous for.

A great character as far as you could tell off screen too.

    RIP!

Dennis Ritchie the computer scientist died over a year ago, I did say that in my reply.  I'll ask again, if you want a tribute to him, then why didn't you start one instead of complaining about the tribute to Larry Hagman?

I'm sure there were countless R.I.P.  Dennis Richie threads all over the net after he died. Get over it! Larry Hagman was a well known and much loved actor for decades, and a nice guy.

Larry and Moonie were friends ... I guess these are the sorts of stories you tell when you live next door to Keith:

They were also in a (British) movie together called Stardust.
