R.I.P. Rizzy 1998 - 2011

One of our dogs unexpectedly passed away yesterday around 7:45am. She had to go in for minor surgery on her right ear the night before and everything went well. She had a seizure the next morning and they couldn't bring her out of it. She died 5 minutes before we got there. The vet said she went quick and didn't feel any pain. Her name was Rizzy. They named her that at the Animal Rescue League where we got her and she responded to it, so we kept the name. We got her a couple of months after we built our house and we've had her for a little over 10 years and it just doesn't seem like home anymore without her. I don't even want to be here. We have two other dogs that we rescued (Maggie & Windy) but she was our first and stayed in the house with us at night. She slept up against me every night for over 10 years. Maggie and Windy keep whimpering and looking for her. The 3 of them have never been apart since we got Maggie and Windy 5 years ago. Well, enough said. I just needed to vent. Thanks for listening.

    Really sorry to hear that Bub, I feel for you. Losing a much-loved animal, especially unexpectedly like that, is heart wrenching.

    She reminds me a little of our 'Titus', who we lost last year;

    Oh Bub, I sure am sorry to hear that.  I lost my cat of 17 years not too long ago.  It sure does hurt for a while.

    I am sorry Bub. I've had pets dogs and cats my whole life. I know losing does hurt pretty bad.  I cry every time..... and even reading and looking at Rizzy in picture is difficult. Animals are awesome!

    My condolences.

    Condolences - the loss of an old fuzzy friend is always a loss from the heart.  Little by little that Rizzy-shaped hole in your life will get smaller - but you'll carry her with you always.

    I've left a few behind - but I like to think they're just waiting for me........

    jamesg1213 ... they sure do look a lot alike. That's a great picture you have.

    Everyone, thank you for the kind words. You've made me feel not so alone and I really needed that today.

    Thanks. Bub.

    Good on you for creating a good home for Rescue League dogs.
    Sometimes people rescue dogs from shelters, but in reality the dogs rescue them.
    Might be a good song in there somewhere.

    Please except our family's   sincere sympathy on the passing of Rizzy . We have 4 dogs and have had and lost a few  dogs over our 28 years of marrage. They become family members who live with us and are more loyal and loving then many people.  They mask us laugh and cry. We hope soon the laughter will return for your family.
