RIP my dog Sweetie...

Sweetie was my dog and best friend for 16 1/2 years. She had a tumor that was causing her a lot of pain. The vet said it was time. So we had to put her down last Saturday. I'm very sad...nothing else matters right now.

Losing a pet hurts a lot. I know what you're going through. I lost my Buddy after 13 years. He was there for me when I felt like I didn't have a friend in the world. It's hard... I'm sorry you're going through that dj. Prayers and best wishes go out to you man.

Don't know if this will help or not but I found this cartoon by the Oatmeal very touching, it's a masterpiece! I love it so much I bought a signed copy of the book.

I feel your pain too. Lost my dog of 14 1/2 earlier this year. They are quite amazing and even though they don't do much while they were alive (in their very last years except sleep a lot etc) you certainly notice them not being there when they are gone.

My heart goes out to you as well. Cheer up, there is good side. No more dog hair to clean up LOL!

What a lucky dog! Having such a caring and responsible companion through a very long life.
No matter how rationally aware you are of the laws of life, it's always hard.

I recently buried a little bag of spirit, wits and attitude, my mother-in-laws silk terrier. It died in the winter
and was kept in her freezer 'till the ground thawed. And then we almost forgot it, but now the roses are growing on the grave.
Just in time - mother-in-laws freezer malfunctioned last weekend :o/

Re: RIP my dog Sweetie... 2013/10/29 06:52:48 (permalink)
djwayne, I am so sorry for the loss of Sweetie.

This has been posted here before but I always thought this was a nice poem.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Hi,

I don't want to sound rude, or anything ... but in a music forum, you tell us this, AND YOU DIDN'T WRITE A SONG?

Hmmm.

You're supposed to write a song so we can then say it all ... !!!

I know it's of no condolence, but I've been where you are. 18 years when Jake went. I waited a month and got Elvis. It made the loss of Jake so much easier. It'll get better but it takes a little time.

You lost a dear friend.  And right this minute there are no doubt a number of animals at your local animal shelter in desparate need of a friend.  You'll do Sweetie no diservice to adopt one of them right away.  It will be good for you and possibly life-saving your new companion.  Peace.
