Radio Voiceover in X1

This may be required fairly urgently so;

If I was to take a mastered track and place our voiceover on it for radio what is the best way to do this;

Some kind of sidechaining that when the vocal kicks in the music drops in the background, again I presume you can have to watch out for clipping despite the limiting performed by the masterer.

    radio / voice over stuff is how most people explain the concept of ducking/ sidechaining to others, I know I do.

    but were you asked to provide stuff ? perhaps WITHOUT the music as they can put it onto the music with side chaining themselves.. i.e. the usual crud of "this is XYZ... and your listening to XYZ on XYZ fm" , a friend had to do loads of them for stations.. in the US I gather it's FAR more stations :)

    If you have the Anderton vids there is a section about sidechaining for exactly this application (and a couple others). I believe it is in the first one.

    Fog, there are a lot more stations, but they are mostly owned by the same company and thus pretty much sound the same.  Obviously the country channel does not sound like the smooth jazz channel, but channels with the similar genres have almost identical playlists nationwide. It makes music less regional wit ha few small exceptions.

    You never know with Anderton.  he's really good with pulling more performance out of older plugs like the Sonitus ones since they are side-chainable as well.

    Come to think of it I believe he did use Sonitus (or something other than the PC module you are talking about anyway) in one of the examples... but not the "Radio Announcer" one. He was doing some "pushing" effect on a techno beat. The principle is supposedly the same though. Neat stuff.

    Thanks all,

    Had a look at the video but in the end the radio DJ will do the voiceover, I thought for a sec for time constraint I would have to do it.

    Bout time I delved into sidechaining anyway!
