As always wonderful work Bob! Since this isn't strictly my usual genre there's probably more informed people here that could comment on the mix better than I can. The kick seemed slightly dry but maybe that was my system here.

Hi Bob, this sure rocks ; ) The guitar solo sounds a bit buried in the mix, imho, turn it up to 11 ; )

Second pass Bob, this has your signature sound, though I think the vocal is a little thin and a little set back in the mix from your normal finished product, I agree that the solo could also come up a dB or two.

Will keep the furry ears pinned for the next mix.

    Hey, Tim,

Thank you so much, buddy, I really appreciate your input and encouraging comments!  I will definitely check out the soloed kick during the remix to see if something's amiss spatially.

Greatly appreciate you giving this a listen and providing good input, Tim, have a super week!

    Hi, Rik,

How are you, my friend?  Hope you're doing well!

Sincere thanks for checking out this mix for me, and for your input and very kind words!

LOL, I'm always a bit paranoid about the old saying "sounds like it was mixed by the guitar player" where the guitar solos just crush everything else in a mix, so I think lately I've been gun shy and lowered most of the solos way too much.  I will definitely bump it up for the remix, and I'm grateful for your good input and friendship!

Thanks again, Rik, and have a great week!

    Hey, Wook,

Thank you, brother, once again, I really appreciate your excellent furry ears and good input and observations!

Later this evening I'm going to try to thicken up the vocals, and I will definitely bump up the volume of the guitar solo as per your and Rik's suggestion.  Hoping to have the remix up by tomorrow morning.

Very grateful for your observations and support, I always try to employ the ideas and suggestions put forth by everyone here on the forum, and it always makes for a better mix!

    Have a great night, John!

wow...great bite on these guitars!! killer chorus....I think that whole section is really mixed well. As I was going back I kinda got caught up on the next tune in line here...so I'll just comment here.

Thin Line is a powerhouse for sure. I really like the lil guitar stop and pop at 1:27ish and 2:10ish...I am a firm believer in letting tunes breath so I enjoy using silence to break things up...and the harder the tune the better it seems to work so on this tune...the ****ing lead is killer...wow. This tune really shows a hell of a lot of maturity in your tunes...this could be on radio...no question. great job brudda!!!

    Mix #2 Up!

    Hey guys,

Just uploaded Mix #2 of this, I beefed up the bass a touch, punched up the guitar solo volume a bit as everyone suggested, (hope I didn't go overboard, LOL) and boosted the vocals as per Wookiee's furry ears.

Major thanks, and if you hear anything else out of whack, please let me know!

    Have a good one!
    Bob

Awesome musical performances. And melodies were very good too. I am not sure but vox and bass could be a bit louder, but my speakers aren't top notch so maybe they are just fine mix wise. I tend to put a lot of bass volume on my mixes so I might not be the best guy to help with mix.

    Hi, Rik,

Major thanks for coming back to check out the remix, greatly appreciated!

For this one, I used my PRS Paul Allender Signature Model on all of the rhythm and lead guitar tracks.  I really love how the EMG 81-TW and EMG 89 split-coil active pickups combination sounds on heavier stuff, very versatile.

Thanks again, Rik, and excellent job on your new instrumental cover, great stuff!

    Hey, Kakku,

Thank you very much for taking time to give this a listen, and for your very good observations and kind words!

Yes, Sir, since being away from mixing for a few months, unfortunately, I've been having a bit of a hard time getting the individual bus volume levels fine tuned.  I'm always afraid I'm mixing things too loud, and I usually end up with a few instruments too low in the mix instead.  Hopefully, as I've finally been able to get a little  more time mixing again, it'll come back to me soon,

Thanks, Kakku, much appreciated, my friend!

Hey, there's my good buddy, Wookiee back for a second helping on the remix!

Thanks so much, Wook, I'm always thrilled to see that you actually took the time to come back to check out the remix to help make sure that I'm moving in the right direction!  That truly means a lot to me, and always helps me get things buttoned down and tightened up in a working mix.

Much appreciated, Wook, and your latest post, "At The Edge" is pure instrumental dynamite, really good stuff!

    Best Wishes,
    Bob

Hey Bob seems nothing has changed in the several years since I last commented on your songs! you still have that Judas Priest sound nailed down, playing great guitar with awesome vocals. love the change of key for the solo and lead itself.
and yet the drum programming and mix remains the Achilles heel. I know these are test tunes so maybe your finished songs have session drums or something?

Wow, you sure are banging 'em out!    Big, wide mix as usual, rockin' guitars and vocals, with a catchy chorus to boot.

However, in those spots when the guitar on the right drops out it really pulls the mix to the left in a weird way, as though my right ear "popped", if you know what I mean.

Yeah Bob!! You're just rocking em out!!

I agree with Steve's comment on the right side guitar dropping out was a bit unnatural sounding. Also, I would've like to hear a bit more brighter snare and the hi-hat seems hidden (the crashes sound fine though)......possibly a little more eq'ing/sheen on the drums? Of course, I'm listening on H-phones and my hearing could be skewed.
