Raising overall volume of envelope

I've used envelopes on a vocal track, and am doing a final mix. The overall volume of the track is too loud, but when I try to move the envelope, it will only move the first section, not the whole envelope. It has worked on rare occasions, but I'm not sure what I did, as if I try a few minutes later, it doesn't work. If I click on the first node at the beginning of the track, it only raises/lowers the first section.

Is there a way to lower the whole track's envelope?

I've looked in Help and there doesn't seem to be anything there.

Thanks.

You could probably use the envelope offset mode for that, though I've never really liked it. Other options you have would be to lower the gain of the audio using the Trim control or routing the track to a new bus which would then act as a master volume for the track.

To move the whole envelope you will need to select it first.  Otherwise only the selected nodes will move.  Clicking on any part of the line automatically selects only 2 nodes, i.e. the ones nearest, left & right, to the point where you clicked.  Selected nodes are displayed as white (unless you have a different colour scheme set).

You may find it useful to read up on Envelope Tools in the manual.

You can select the entire envelope, though it's not 100% reliable.

    Try this:

Start by unselecting EVERYTHING (ctrl + shift + a)

Now select the entire track by clicking the track number.

This should, if you're lucky, select the entire envelope (all nodes turn white)

Now you can drag the entire envelope up/down.

Tip: in order to view the exact Db value, click on the HIGHEST straight line part of the envelope (between the 2 highest nodes) before you drag it. Clicking anywhere else will initially display the Db value of the segment you've selected, but when you start to drag it, the Db readout will show the highest value.

I just realised how complicated that all sounds, but it's much easier in practice
