Ral Ending

Please can anyone tell me the best way to get a rall ending in Sonar 8.5 Producer.
I have written a midifile on tyros keyboard and adding it into a musical project but I need a rall ending is it best just to draw a tempo change line?

Yes :) Just go into the tempo map and draw the line in. This is the easiest way by far. You may want to tweak the line more precisely if you've already got it in your head.

    Best, or easiest?

The best way IMO is to play it, and then snap the timeline to what you played using Set Measure/Beat At Now (Ctrl-M)  - notwithstanding the problem that the 8.5.3 patch introduced to this feature.

For a project already sequenced in straight time, the easiest way is to draw in the tempo map or to select the time range and Insert > Series of Tempos.

Thanks both very much I'll draw and then probably have to change the feel (I have a 20 piece choir coming in the studio and they love ral endings)!!!!Arghhhhhh!

In that case, it might be easier, if possible, to record the choir with their natural ral ending and then match your file to it rather than trying to get 20 singers to follow a tempo map. You'll probably end up at some combination of the two approaches.

Yes you might want to bring the leader in and record  him singing the ending sans accompaniment by inserting  CC7 :0 in your midi file at the beginning of the ending and since they have undoubtedly rehearsed the piece and he probably "knows" how the feel of the ending goes.  Put your CC7 back to where it was or should be and then you will have a sense of where to insert your tempo changes in your midi file by matching your midi file to his vocal.   Then mute or delete his vocal.
Since rall. and rit. are usually  "a piacere"   doing it that way should allow them to perform it and have it still sound "at pleasure" when you record the full chorus with the accompaniment.  I think.
Or, you could do the mute thing CC7 :0 at the beginning of the ending and do your midi tempo matching sans chorus post recording the audio.  Probably expedite things that way since often the leader may not be available prior to the session.

Thanks Tomas that will probably be the best option as you say It should help the feel to be more natural especially after editing.cc7=o in ready.
Thanks everyone Great to know there is great experience here on the forums.
