For random chords I use a die...
Don't knock it till you've tried it.

Seated one day at the organ, I was weary and ill at ease,
And my fingers wander'd idly over the noisy keys;
I knew not what I was playing, or what I was dreaming then,
But I struck one chord of music like the sound of a great Amen.

If you have Band In A Box there is a feature under the "Melodist" Menu item allowing you to "generate chords" in different styles.  I've used it and, with some modification, like it.

Similar feature in EZKeys, results are, well, random but within the scale chosen and related to existing chords. they can kick-start ideas.

Sounds like my Saturday morning, except that I substitute Babylon By Bus for the lava lamp. Bob Marley was born for Saturday mornings! FWIW, it was Jack Flash this morning!

I can't do marijuana in the morning. I'm on a diet, for one thing, and there's an all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet within walking distance. So I'm afraid pot, at least for this old man, is an evenings-only diversion.
