Rapture 1.1 crashes in microhost and sonar 8 (XP 64)

I can barely run rapture for less than 30 seconds before it hangs and makes a buzzing sound through the microhost. i have the same problem running it through sonar 8 but at least i get a fatal error message C00000005. i was running it ok for a month or two and then these errors started to happen. Anyone have any ideas?

Does it still happen if you increase the buffers and latency on the system?

i have the audio playback and record buffer size at 512 and latency at 9.2 ms. I also have the UA 25 audio buffer set to the 5th posisiton, whatever that is in size. i've tried it at 1012 and nudged to audio buffer another pos to the left and still crashed. is there some recommended setting?

No...just whatever you find works best. I suggest calling Cakewalk technical support. They should be able to help you get the problem resolved.

This happened to me with 1.1 microhost also. So, I'm still using v1. It's the only one that works for me.

I wonder if it has something to do with AMD. do these guys test on machines with AMD processors?

Neil, they have to as they know the user base isn't solely intel machines.. BUT a lot of companies do work mainly on their Intel base. The x2 has made me feel strongly to switch back to intel for my next rig, simple because another program (not by cakewalk) should be out performing my single core laptop centrino and isn't.

I mean I had a sound card that was giving issues, on an intel rig it gave VERY different results from my amd x2.. can't speak for x64 but I did do some testing for Muz3um pack in vista 32 on my amd rig and it worked without issue..

I notice your running it with a micro host, does it behave any better as a VST?

maybe the problem is the micro host itself.. finding out if it works ok on the vst side would give a good indication.. then send a report into cake about it using the problem reporter page

I did some testing with rapture 1.1 and sonar 8 on vista 32 and it seemed to work without failure, no wierd rapture.dll errors and the microhost did not crash. I also tested on a XP64 and Vista64 with the same rig and got the same type of errors i mentioned previously on each of the 64 bit os'.

the muz3m pack is pretty cool btw.

it's a little disappointing, luckily I know frields that have a 32 bit version of vista plus my own copies of Vista 64 and XP 64. I was able to test it on all those platforms and was only able to get it working stable on the 32 bit version of vista with intel processor, so far. I'm gong to see if it will work well on vista 32 bit with an amd processor. cakewalk, fell free to do some testing too. there could be a number of reasons why it doesn't work in 64 bit os. could be the AMD chip vs Intel and the way the chip addresses memory and cakewalk didn't test on machines with amd 64, but I don't think that is it. Or it could just be that it doesn't work with 64 bit at all. most software developers don't know what the hell they are doing when it comes to 64 bit computing. if NI or pro tools vsts don't have 64 bit versions, i can't imagine cakewalk mastered it either.

Rapture 1.1 crashes sometimes for me inside the microhost on Vista x64. For me, it's been happening as I audition presets from Galbanum Piscis using a USB MIDI keyboard controller.

The worst part is that the Rapture.exe process lingers for a little while as a zombie process that consumes tons of MBs memory (depending on the amount of memory consumed by the samples you had loaded in memory before Rapture crashes) and never releases the MIDI input port. Attempts to shut down the zombie process manually fail. You have to wait for Vista to notice the zombie process and terminate it. Even once the zombie process finally terminates and releases the MIDI driver, the ASIO audio output is gone until you reboot Vista.

Same here, even tried the rapture LE x64 without success. Same error code after about 30 sec of use microhost an internal DX or VST.

On my Vista x64 system running Sonar 8.3.1 x64, Rapture 1.1 crashes when Sonar starts up. Sonar presents the option to not load the VST.
