Yay yay yay

I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.

Update ran fine. Somewhat cumbersome but fine.

Did the update - complete and total waste of good time.  My Rapture Pro still says it's registered in the Command Center, but I start it and it says I'm running a demo copy, making it unusable.  I exchanged numerous emails with CW tech. support a while back to try to resolve this.  At some point, they just stopped communicating - got tired of not being able to solve the problem, I guess, and decided I should just be stuck with a useless copy.

Fortunately on the fairly lengthy list of synths I have on my DAW, RP is *far* from the top in terms of my appreciation level.

This is completely unacceptable. IF you are being accurate then you should make a very loud and public stink about it. Service like that kills reputation.

or at the very least go back and edit his rapture pro review to better reflect the reality of rapture pro from then to now (no offense intended, and perhaps a quick dig at cakewalks support, or lack there of wouldn't go astray )

rapture pro was a mess upon release, some would say it still is in many areas, the demo mode issue, which is not restricted to rapture pro but also has struck many users of sonar, z3ta and more is unacceptable, the issues that plague, and have plagued mac users with rapture pro, again not restricted to rapture pro but nearly everything cakewalk has released for mac, not a good track record for a company planning on unleashing their flagship product on the mac world.

having said that, rapture pro seems to work fine for me now, but i don't really use it, as dmbaer i have many far better synths on hand. i have no desire to use it other than applying any updates and having a quick 5 or 10 minute play around with it, mainly due to the pathetic state it was released in and remained in for many months more, it's just $79 (or whatever) i'll never get back, and a huge hdd space taker to me now (luckily i have heaps of space and space is cheap )

Well, I thought I just did make a public stink.

Seriously though, I meant what I said about it not being that big a deal.  Having accumulated *so* many soft synths by this point, some of them absolutely extraordinary, I am overwhelmed by the challenge of figuring out just which few of them I want to master and keep close to me.  Like many (probably most) of us here, I am all too susceptible to GAS and absolutely delight in new technology/toys to play with.  But like a kid with ADD, I tire of new toys all too quickly.  I do have some affection for Rapture since it was really the first soft synth I got to know fairly well.  But  there are so many other great alternatives to Rapture that not having access to it is, at least for me, not a huge loss.

I think I understand where you are coming from. My problem is that if they do it to you and get away with it, then they will do it to others. It's not right, and should never be considered as acceptable.

Sermon concluded.

Hey DMBAER,

It looks like you were gifted a time limited NFR of Rapture Pro.

I'll send you a PM and we can catch up in regards to that.

Best Regards,

The plot thickens.

Sadly, nothing that will win an Oscar. It was a combination of factors.

The NFR system and delivery tools service various senior aspects of operation outside of retail delivery and have changed a bit over the years. dmbaers issue was atypical and wouldn't be immediately apparent to someone with junior level access or context. We'll make some adjustments in the support tools and procedures to prevent this in the future.

At this time we're pretty confident all reported Rapture Pro & Session registration bugs in the field have been squashed. If anyone is experiencing authorization issues that you believe to be a bug in Update 5, please send in an email or send me a Private Message and we'll get it escalated ASAP.

Thanks everyone!

Best Regards,
Seth
