Rapture StepGen Editor - Sonar7 Step Sequencer

You can use Sonar 7.02 and its new Load / Save Patterns feature to configure a step sequencer editor for Rapture.
Here's a single template (*.ssp) file; adjusted to conform with Rapture's default expectations.
Rapture StepGen Editor (Base Defaults).ssp [2.02K]

In Sonar:
Views -> Synth Rack. Load up a pair of Rapture Tracks. Select the MIDI half.
Views -> Step Sequencer. Open up the Step Sequencer view. Right-click outside of the notes area, and Load Pattern ...
Navigate to where you placed the .ssp file linked above.

Set the Mode to Mono. Enter in note values that represent the final 'level' values in Rapture's StepGen.
If you wish to edit via a MIDI controller, right-click on the Step Sequencer's Play button (it switches to Step Record).

In Rapture:
Click on the Pitch modulator. Set the Depth value to 2400 cents.
Right-click in the steps area, and select "MIDI Note Entry (C4=base)".

In S7's Step Sequencer:
Press Play. Your programmed 'levels' are written into Rapture's Pitch StepGen.

Rinse & repeat. If desired, right-click on the Pitch indicator, and "Copy Step Generator".
Select another modulator (Cut 1 or 2; Reso 1 or 2; Pan; Amplitude), right-click again, and choose "Paste Step Generator".
The results are transferred to another parameter type.

Edit: Now tested as a working solution for Rapture LE, as well.

    Nice work B.

I was going to forward comment to the "other" forum, but seeing as it's dead in here, I'd like to post my thanks for the tip here, instead.

I appreciate the replies, guys. I considered adding a lot more preset 'templates', but it's very easy to roll your own.

Load the original .ssp template in S7's Step Sequencer, and adjust the number of Beats / Steps to match those in Rapture's StepGens. Save Pattern in the Step Sequencer for another template. This approach to StepGen editing becomes more useful with greater numbers of steps involved (32, 64, 128, etc.). 'Zoom out' on the StepGen sequence within the Step Sequencer, for precision edits.

When you discover some StepGen sequences that are 'keepers', save them as reusable patterns in the Step Sequencer. The Mono mode setting there isn't essential. Rapture will prioritize to the highest note in a column, but Mono mode is easier to 'read'.

Thanks to b rock for this. I was thinking after the 7.02 release came out with the ability to load and save Step Sequencer patterns, how complimentary the two apps (Sonar's Step Sequencer and Rapture's Step Generators) now are. b rock has here created the plumbing and explained to us how to make it useful. With appreciation and respect.

Hey, man. Took me a while to get my head around this but, wow, nice. Really cool trick. I'm looking forward to exploring this further.

    You are, indeed, the man.

As an addendum to this ancient post, here's a Sonar Step Sequencer pattern that covers all 128 steps in Rapture's StepGen.
While this can be unwieldy in Sonar's (non-resizable) window, it can be more convenient to 'paint' in values with greater detail.

I also uploaded a 'drum' map to assist in the labeling aspect of Sonar's Step Sequencer.
Should you need to change the MIDI outputs found in this map, use the process described below:

    - Highlight the 1st note, scroll all the way down, press Shift and click the last note so they're all selected.
    - Press Ctrl+Shift and click the down arrow for the Out Port.
    - Select the Out Port.
Many thanks to Susan G for the method description.

Thanks Tom. I might get my head around doing some more stuff with Rapture I guess.
