Rapture upgrade or wait

Seeing that in the spring, I will probably be getting X? and the new computer, I see Rapture will be included...I assume still.

I've got the RaptureLE version, which you basically can't really tweak, but just play back the presets.  With the holiday coupon, I can upgrade for $49 - 20 = $29 total.   29 buck is 29 bucks, but I kinda see this hard to pass.  But the endles "$29" spending is tough on the wallet.

I like the Rapture kind of sounds, sequences, arps, pads...  Is this synth still "current"...or just put the $29 in my bank account towards the massive upgrade in the spring.... and get Omnisphere and whatever else?  I see that Rapture is about 1/100th of the Spectrasonics flagship, but is the poor mans alternative...for now.

Being totally analytical.... I can see using it on about 15 songs by then... so is it worth 2 bucks a song!!    ha!...  totally retentive thinking !!!

If you're going to get the X upgrade anyways, I'd just wait and use
the coupon on something you don't have or aren't going to get
    when you do the upgrade.

But if you're anxious to play with it and just can't wait, then by all means get busy...LOL

I would agree, but the $29 almost venture into the impulse catagory....which is where I get into trouble**.  There isn't really many other choices of stuff that I'd could go for either...either X3 upgrades or the Z3TA or DimPro stuff I already have.  I don't use session drummer in favor of Toontrack Superior.

May as well wait until you get an 'X' package

I bought the rapture upgrade long ago and to be honest, I never use it.

but I probably don't use it cause around the same time I started building up other synths.

Omnisphere, Alchemy, Massive, Korg M1 & Korg Wavestation. Those I play with all the time.

Rapture, Zeta 2, Dimensions 1.5 I forget I even have them installed.

Speaking as one who bought it, I would wait and get it included with X3. Can't remember the last time I used it, but I guess it depends what else you have.

I didn't upgrade to X3 but don't the upgrades start at just $49?

If you just can't live without it then go for it, but for the little bit extra $$, I would just wait.

I have Rapture as well, and have had it for years and I'm yet another who never uses it either [although I really should.]

It's too bad I can't just give you my second version registration number, as I have 2 - one that I bought years ago & one that came with X2 - but I believe that Cake won't allow it.

I think I have 3 copies of both Rapture and Dimension Pro....I think it very unfortunate that you can't
sell or even give them away...just seems like a waste, and is keeping Cakes customer base even lower.
    Asi es la vida!

If you think you would get plenty of use out it I would get it.
You said you already had about 15 songs you could use it...
as you said, that's $2 a song, and it obviously inspires you so
that in itself you can't put a price tag on....IMHO...

It's kind of sad that Rapture kind of got lost in the sea of synths.  I love Z3ta+2 but rapture actually makes beefier sounds.  if I were a programmer I am certain  i could take more advantage of it.

Rapture is a "goto" softsynth for me.  I have used it in almost every project for the last 6 years.

Computer Music gives away Rapture for free next month. That means that you can get it for much less than $29 in a few days.

    I would wait.

I purchased Rapture as a stand alone some years back. It was always unstable for me. But I love its sound anyway.

I just upgraded to x3 producer and I uninstalled ALL sonar products off my system and then a fresh clean install of x3 including the full version of Rapture. ( I chose not to install Rapture Le)

Seems to work soooo much better now......

On one hand $30 isn't hard on the wallet, on the other you'll get to your X3 upgrade quicker if you are patient, avoid low cost impulse buys and hang on to the money. Just some food for thought.

Rapture is a great synth, and the muz3um and other libraries for it makes it even more useful.  I'd get computer music - you can't tell what else is on the disk/download you might find useful.  Be warned, however, freebies etc. from Cakewalk (as well as many others) means the next version or replacement is about ready to go.  They get you one way or another, so just don't be peeved when Rapture + comes out in a few months.  I wouldn't bet the farm on it, but most likely.  And if you get rapture now, you'll be in for the user discounts, which will save more than $30 if you upgrade.

I upgraded Rapture at some point for $19.99, so it was during a sales cycle, but then became part of the Producer package anyway. I have not gotten a lot of use out of it, so it is "there" but not a critical piece for me. Also bear in mind I am more a guitar person, so MIDI is not what I gravitate to (take this with a grain of salt).
