Re installing Producer expanded? What's the process?
I have uninstalled everything I can in the process of re-installing due to a permanent loss of playback. Where do I start? Do I start with X1 Producer and then do Expanded over top of it, then do the updates one at a time up to X1d?

Find the link for the pdf at bottom of page. It tells the order of installation. http://www.cakewalk.com/s...013277?DL=Instructions here is an excerpt from the pdf: To install the SONAR X1d update, you must already have SONAR X1c Producer/Studio/Essential (Build 319) or SONAR X1 Expanded (Build 425) installed. You can only install SONAR X1d on top of these builds. If you do not know what build of SONAR you currently have installed, you can find out what build you are on by opening SONAR and then going to Help > About SONAR. Please do this before continuing with these instructions and note what build is listed. Clarification of the proper installation order for each product is listed below. Installation order for SONAR X1 Producer Expanded: 1. SONAR X1 Producer (release build 184) - available on disc or download from your Cakewalk store account 2. SONAR X1c Producer update (build 319) - available here 3. SONAR X1 Producer Expanded (build 425) - available via download from your Cakewalk store account 4. SONAR X1d Producer Expanded update (build 535) - available here

Glenn, if you wan to do a completely clean re-install, you MUST delete the 2 registry keys noted below otherwise it will.not.work. 1) Completely un-install SONAR from your computer. This is normally done from Start | Programs | Cakewalk. This will not remove any of your project files or audio data. 2) Next you will want to open the Run Command a) In Windows XP this can be done by going to Start | Run b) In Windows Vista and 7 this can be done by holding down the ‘windows’ key and pressing ‘r’ 3) At the prompt type regedit and click OK. ***Backup your Registry before making edits - you do this by clicking the File menu, Export Registry File. 4) Now delete the following Registry keys: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\SONAR Producer\X2 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\SONAR Producer\X2 *Please note that this will remove any effects presets and key bindings you may have made in Cakewalk. You can back these up separately if you like, using Options|Key Bindings, Tools|SONAR Plug-in Manager, and Options|Colors. Hit F1 in these views for detailed instructions on how to do this. 5) Open the 'Run' command again. 6) Copy and paste the following into the prompt: %appdata%\Cakewalk 7) This will open your Cakewalk Application Data folder, right-click on the SONAR folder and choose rename. 8) Rename this folder SONAR X1 Backup. 9) Open the 'Run' command again and type msconfig Click OK and then click on the Startup tab at the upper right of the window that opens. 10) Uncheck all items listed, click OK, then restart your computer. You can always recheck those items again at a later time. 11) Then reinstall SONAR. Make sure to have any virus scanners disabled on installation. It is not required or recommended to turn off any windows services.

Thanks guys. So far so good Got x1 producer 184 in ok. And it plays!! I did have the same "no play problem" but on a whim, changed Preferences/playback Timing master from none to BR800( my sound card/controller) That could have been it all along. Oh well a clean install can't hurt.

Re-installing, looking for X1d expanded for the patch download but I only see X1e expanded in my account? Has "d" been updated or something? How is it listed?

There is/was no X1e Expanded. Did you go X1 > X1c?

Yes, I ignored the b quick fix. The file in my account definitely says X1e Expanded in the list I started to install it but it just said "expanded" again and no mention of "d" so I quit, thinking it was an old install https://dl.dropbox.com/u/24683934/X1e.jpg
