Re-Post from last year

I dug this up and threw it out on FB. I thought I'd drop it in here for the heck of it.

This is a beautiful song in search of a vocal.  The mix is full and wide on my monitors, very nice.  However, this is just my two cents here, but when an instrumental goes over three minutes, I tend to lose interest unless there are a few changes or surprises.  In this case, the last two minutes offered neither of those elements.  Still, all in all, this is a nice piece of music.  Well done.

    All the best,

Yeah I remember this one. And there's that pic from the War of Northern Aggression? The piece seems to fit that time frame perfectly. Great job!

Nice one Scotty! I like the feel of it and agree with Lynn. It needs vocals imo.

    Very well done!

Oh I remember this one.  It's a great tune.  Excellent fiddle playing as usual!  While vocals would work, I don't feel as though this song necessarily needs them.  Sometimes it's nice to lay back and listen to a beautiful instrumental such as this, and let your imagination take you whereever.

    Excellent Scotty!

It's great to hear this lovely tune again.  Fantastic playing and very pro sounding mix.

    Scotty,
I also do ot feel the song needs vocals, but it would also give it another dimension. As I listened I could imagine this being played as a back drop in my new favorite show "Hell On Wheels". This would work great with that show.
I will have to also say that this was a bit long for me, but very well done, as I new it would be.

    Grant,
    Thanks for listening again!

    Robby,
Thanks. This cover tune was used as background music for Ken Burns' Civil War series. That's probably why it fits the time period so well.

    Guitarpima,
Sorry, not my song so there won't be any vocals added. There were no words to this tune that I'm aware of.

    Luke,
    Thanks for your kind review!

    Gary,
    Thank you very much!

    Herb,
    Thanks for checking it out.

    Radio,
Thanks for listening and glad you enjoyed it again.

    Thatsastrat,
Thank you very much! It is indeed a background song already. It was written by my pal, Jay Ungar.

I tend to agree with some of the comments above.  Vocals aren't always necessary and I think that applies here.

I personally like long instrumentals but I understand Lynns perspective.  Remember when they only played instrumentas just before the news so they could cut them off since they didn't really matter   Hence the Loggins and Messina instrumental titled "Just Before the News".  As a kid I don't know how many times they cut off half of Walk Don't Run, Sleepwalk, or Pipeline or Tequila... those damn instrumentals, nobody cares about that, just filler.   Often when a non music person hears one of my instrumentals they are compelled to say.. "that's nice but I like words".   I guess if they can't play an instrument, they would better realate to words since they can at least talk.

    This is very nice.

    Hey, Scotty,

This is definitely my all time favorite of yours!  I remember posting to tell you how my wife and I were at a Civil War museum exhibition that played this type of period music throughout the entire exhibit, and how I immediately thought of this song, and how perfect your version was.  Just pure mid 1800's Americana music at it's absolute best, and a perfect mix.

Fantastic, as always, thanks for reposting it so I could enjoy it again.  Have a good one, buddy!
