ReWire Problem

I'm using a program called Synfire, which provides a file named Transport.dll, which is supposed to allow me to ReWire Synfire and Sonar. In Sonar, I chose Insert/ReWire Device/Transport, and Transport appeared in my synth rack.

The problem is that I now can't get rid of it. When I try to delete Transport (or close Sonar), I get this message:

Transport is currently open. You must close all ReWire panel applications before closing this project or removing a synth from the rack.

I didn't have Synfire open when I added Transport to Sonar, and of course since Synfire isn't open I can't close it. But I know almost nothing about ReWire, so I'm not sure if "ReWire panel applications" in this case means Synfire.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks.

I'm not familiar with Synfire but I would think you would choose that as the ReWire device, not the .dll. In any event ReWire requires that all clients be closed before you can close the host.

In this case Synfire is the host. The idea is that via ReWire it will (among other things) control Sonar's transport.

Under the heading "Synchronizing with a DAW," the Synfire manual says :

Load the ReWire module Transport into the DAW.

So I did a rescan of Sonar's VST folders to make sure Sonar could find Transport.dll, then did Insert/ReWire/Transport. Now it looks like I am stuck with Transport for life, and cannot close Sonar.

I did a Google search of this and found one guy who had a similar problem in 2012, but he didn't post a solution, assuming he found one.

    Thanks anyway.

I since did a CTRL/Alt/Delete and was able to close Sonar from the Task Manager. When I then re-opened Sonar, the Transport module was no longer in the synth rack. So problem solved....sort of, I guess, maybe.

But I'm somewhat reluctant to even try ReWire again.
