Well, all this talk about EZX kits in Superior has kinda got me jazzed to give it a go. But which one to pick up? I know the Nashville kit is highly regarded and would probably fit well into my genre, but I am intrigued by the prospect of truly extending my sonic palette beyond conventional kits. Anybody use the Twisted kit? Mind you, I don't know if I actually need a duck call, but I'm pretty sure I don't already have one.

The Twisted Kit is an acquired taste. It's a little odd. Doesn't mean it's bad, it's just lends itself to quirky music.

yes, as I mentioned above, I use the Twisted Kit for the odd ball stuff. I haven't had it long, but I really like it for sounds that I didn't have before. I also have Nashville and what I like about it are the brush pieces fit really nice in some of my work.

The Twisted Kit is my favorite EZX (as you might imagine). I love all the quirky things It does and the ways I can fit it in to my, admittedly, non-mainstream tracks. If, however, you want the best EZX for everyday work...it's Nashville, hands down.

Bitflipper, you might have already noticed this, but just in case, I'll provide this tip that can save you some money...Around every 2 to 3 months for the past year, Toontrack ezx's go on sale for $39 USD at some US online retailer -- Guitar Center (online and in physical stores), MusiciansFriend, Music123 (actually these first three are owned by the same parent company, but sometimes have different prices), AudioMidi, Sweetwater and Florida Music are the ones I check for the best prices. I did a quick check and it seems there is no sale going on right now (there was last month). I'm confident if you can wait a month or so, they'll be on sale again. - Peter

Twisted is different and could be inspiring as it suggests different directions. I got a few seeds of an idea pairing it with Hollow Sun's quirky Organa electric reed organ samples. The jazz kit is seldom mentioned here. It's very good, very Jazz, but not a general purpose kit. Drumkit From Hell was a disapointment for me but it does have a nice range of cymbals. There could be some good material for a hybrid kit here. Fore me Nashville and The Classic are the best, both are suitable for a wide range of styles. It would be hard for me to choose between these two, but if pushed I would probably pick the Classic.

I think the Classic EZX is my favorite. It has some great loooonngg grooves to go with the collection. The Toms are absolutely awesome, IMHO.

So far I haven't been able to get the new Classic to "sit" just right. I'm sure I will. Totally agree about the Toms tho.

When these things go on for $39 they are hard to pass up. I ended up getting all of them on the last round at AudioMidi earlier this year. Of course, The Classic was not on for that price since it was new. For an all purpose kit, I like the Nashville myself. The Black Beauty snare is incredible, and even if I use the Avatar kit with Superior - I often replace the snare with the Black Beauty from the Nashville kit. But the Nashville is not perfect. That first tom is down right annoying - LOL! For all the "extras" I tend to go to the Latin kit! Still have not found a place for "Twisted", but I haven't had it long, and I know it will get used!

Surprised nobody mentioned BFD2 in this thread. This can do virtually everything the OP wanted and they sell load sof add-on packs if the standard kits don't cut it for you.

Bristol_Jonesey Surprised nobody mentioned BFD2 in this thread. This can do virtually everything the OP wanted and they sell load sof add-on packs if the standard kits don't cut it for you. I mentioned it on page 1 (granted, just a quick reference). I think BFD2 is a decent product. The major downsides of BFD2 being that it's still not 64 bit and it still appears (based on a number of pretty knowledgeable users posting on VDrums.com Forum and, as I recall, FXpansion's Forum too) that it still has a problem with machine gunning. It's completely subjective, but I much prefer the samples of the kits that ship with Superior Drummer over the ones that ship with BFD2; something about the quality of the stock BFD2 kits just don't do it for me. That said, the Platinum Samples drum kits for BFD2 sound incredibly good. I wish they made more of those for SD too (right now they only offer Evil Drums). BFD2 clearly wins the battle when it comes to third party sample libraries -- just for the ones from Platinum Samples alone. FTR, I never bought BFD2, I own BFD Eco, but have listened to BFD2 a number of times before deciding not to buy it. I own SD and most expansions, ezx and most expansions, most Drum Masters, Sonic Reality Neil Peart Drums, Addictive Drums w/Retro and Funk AdPaks, Steven Slate Drums, Ocean Way Drums, Waves Factory Tea Towel Drums (at $9.95 for a beautifully and extensively sampled KONTAKT drum kit library, I strongly recommend everyone check this out), etc. I definitely have GAS when it comes to drum libraries, piano libraries, guitar libraries and bass guitar libraries.
