Yeah, that's real time.
I've seen it once in my lifetime. It's relatively rare to see it as far south as Denver, but we got lucky one night.
It wasn't quite as well defined as this video, but breathtaking all the same. The entire North sky dancing in green gossamer light. Truly an unforgettable sight.

We were supposed to have a chance last weekend here (Friday and Saturday nights), but no word that it showed (from a couple of friends that I know went out looking for it).

Worked quite a few times in Fort Chipewyan in Northern Alberta, got to see something pretty close to this  once or twice.
 
Once one of the the guys I was working with, had some smokables, we went out at night on a canoe and watched them floating on Lake Athabasca that was even better.
 
Feckin' amazing.
