RealStrat and MIDI

SusanG, if you're out there, you posted a question on the MusicLab forum about the future implementation of MIDI OUT with RealStrat. What does that mean, exactly? Are you talking about recording articulations or notes? What is the limitation?

Or maybe somebody else has been using RealStrat and can comment on what you CAN'T do with it?

I am real close to purchasing the product, but I'm wary anymore about soft synths that promise more than they can deliver. Too many impulse acquisitions in the past that turned out to be a waste of time.

    <crickets>

    OK, I'll assume that
    a) nobody is using RealStrat, or
    b) nobody has actually figured out how to use RealStrat like the guy in the video, or
    c) nobody visits the Software forum ghetto

    Nope. It's option A, but could easily have been B if I had bought it. That guy is good.

    C is definitely wrong, though.

    Good to know somebody else cruises this forum, Rob.

    I'm just perplexed as to why RealStrat isn't wildly popular, given the amazing results demonstrated in their videos. Maybe there is something better out there and I just haven't found it yet. I looked seriously at Ministry of Rock, which has the added advantage of including bass and drums as well as effects. It sounds pretty good, too. But I will not buy iLok-protected products.

    I think one of the reasons not that many here uses RealStrat is that lots of the forumites seem to be guitarplayers and guitarplayers often shrug at guitar-emulating software? I know one chord on the guitar (G) and wouldn't go very far with only that I suppose so if I could afford it I would definitely buy both RealGuitar and RealStrat, they seem great. From what I have seen they have gotten really good reviews and the demo-songs and videos are really good for what I can tell. Why don't you download the demo and try it if you like it? Demo here: http://www.musiclab.com/downloads/

    Sadly very reduced studio equipment as it is... ASUS G750J, 8 gb RAM, Win8, Roland Quad Capture.

    @bitflipper

    Well from what I heard, read and saw about RS - I'd go for it considering you have the skills on the keyboard - I simply lack those, although faking them goes rather well these days - I'm just far better at guitars themselves than I'll ever be with keyboards. In your case I think it's basically working on the tricks as seen in the vid, to get bends etc out convincingly.

    So if I were you, I would try to get my hands on a demo, or try it out in a shop or something - don't think there's anything better yet.
