Realistic Minimus 7
I was driving past a garage sale last week, and stumbled on a pair of original Minimus 7's (not the RCA knock offs) for the grand sum of $5.00! Took them home - plugged them in, and was absolutely amazed at the sound! I was a little worried they might be blown or damaged, but it doesn't appear that way at all. I have often read about the Realistic Minimus 7 desktop speakers and their "cult status", but have never heard them before.
The high end is very crisp and clean, much better than I had ever imagined from a low cost set of speakers. I used to use a pair of JBL Control 1's as a desktop (small speaker) monitor reference, but these are so much better I'll be shelving the JBL's for now.
I can't wait to use them on a mix as a secondary to my main monitors.
Don't fix it in the mix ... Fix it in the take!
