Realivox – Blue | Realitone

REALIVOX – BLUE:
It starts with the voice. Blue is my go-to singer when I want that ultra-pretty tone. Check out the audio demos and see if you don’t agree.
WORDBUILDER:
Six vowels and 23 consonants give you the tools to create your own words and phrases.** But we went deeper than just sampling a bunch of vowels and consonants. Way deeper. Consider these elements:
An “s” singing into an “ee” sounds different from an “s” singing into an “oo.” (Try it yourself. Listen to how your own “s” will sound different, depending on the vowel.) So each consonant was recorded separately going in and out of each vowel. There are two and a half octaves of “k” samples (32 samples) that go into “ah.” Another 32 of “k” into “eh.” And so on. For each consonant, that’s six sets for each vowel.
** Note that although Realivox Blue can sing many words and phrases, she is limited to the six vowels we’ve sampled.

Sounds good in the You Tube clips.

I like the way the web page banner says "Offical Release 26 May 2014, (or maybe May 27th. Because you know how we are"

I can think of two other developers where "Offical Release 26 May 2014, (or maybe 2017. Because you know how we are" would be more appropriate.

Intel i7 3770K @4.4GHz, 32GB RAM, 240GB SSD System disk, 2 x 2TB and 1 x 1TB (with SSD Cache) HDD. Windows 10,  Sonar Platinum. Roland Quad Capture.

Mike has a good sense of humor.
I'm guessing this was a difficult lib build with lots of tweaking involved.
Probably still a few issues in this release, sure he'll have on going updates.

Just picked it up. The word builder is pretty simple and sounds good. When you string consonants and vowels together you get different samples depending on the combinations. If you set it to s-ee you you won't just get an s and an ee but a sample of s+ee. So it sounds good.
One question: where is the "i"?

Went for it (DUH!).

I figure if I get two songs out of it it's cheaper than hiring session singers. From there on out, clear profit.

Yep, the profit part is key.

I've been trying to weigh the current KH library and Friedlander violin specials, unsure of which would better suit my needs.   But after listening to these demos it seems like I now have a three way tie.

Hehehe... I said three way.

It is a lot of fun to play with, though I'm still having trouble getting my head wrapped around it. I got busy with a few other things, but I want to get back to it over the next few days.
Note to if possible use both a consonant and a vowel in every syllable.

This was my early attempt at the different vowel sounds, I'm going to make a second attempt since I think I've improved somewhat, especially using legatto.

Then I tried a bit of an old hymn, again it can be improved.

Thanks, bigkat!   It's nice to hear what someone unfamiliar with the software is able to do essentially out of the gate.  It certainly does seem as though it has good potential....

1.8 gig download.

I'm worried my adventures might actually hurt sales as I'm really not a good musician in any sense, but if you view it as what a minimally talented newbie can do, you'll get the right idea.

I've had "The Ladies" on my radar for awhile, but when this came out I bought it first. I haven't spent a lot of time with it yet, but it is much easier to get a reasonable-sounding vocal out of it than I thought it would be. Can't wait to really dive in (time, time, time)...

Picked it up & started working with it this morning.
The sample quality itself sounds very good. Sits well in the mix w/o too much eq'ing. Also try a light touch of the mod wheel & you'll get one of the better vibratos for voice that I've used.

It just needs a phrase library with ability to save & enter them into projects.

Re: Realivox – Blue | Realitone 2014/08/24 00:34:35 (permalink)
I finally had some time to experiment with Blue. I think it came out OK, especially for a first attempt. If you want to have a listen, here's the link:
https://soundcloud.com/dave-ranck/agnus-dei

I would still like to tweak a few syllables, including some of the dipthongs, and it could stand a gentle hand on expression also.

Blue is a lot of fun to work with. It's pretty intuitive and the vocal quality is excellent. I found that moving certain phrases forward in time before the natural beat improves the result considerably. The one thing that I would like to see added to Blue is a way to save off the phrases for later retrieval.

I'm kind of surprised it doesn't have that already, but yeah, that would be good.

Don't most professional singers do that sometimes? I think it's called "feel".
