Realtime freeze is broken in 23.3.0 Build 51?

Play engine does not fast-freeze well, drops and cuts off notes, but all other soft synths including Kontakt do fast-freeze for me.
(no, not a midi buffer issue)
My workaround was to real-time freeze Play. Just tried it tonight, and it never stops trying to freeze, goes well beyond the end of the song, I gave up trying to real-time freeze after 5 minutes beyond the end of the song.
Tried real-time freezing Kontakt in a new project with a handful of notes and it wouldn't stop either.
Could anyone please verify?

    Ok, works on my laptop but not on my daw, anyone have any ideas what might cause the difference?

    I did manage to find changes to the Play engine so it'll fast freeze correctly.
