Reamping the Line6 HD500 with Tascam FW1884

I want to use my HD500 for my guitar sounds in my home studio, and since the USB capabilities isn't the best (as for instance my POD X3?) I was wondering if my connection could be like this:
 
Guitar --> Tascam FW 1884 controller/audio interface
 
FW1884 Output  --> POD HD500 --> FW1884 input
 
 
The FW1884 also has stereo S/PDIF inputs and outputs, more info here if anyone is interested.
 
What do you guys think? Would that be a possible solution?
This way I can use the POD HD editor to save my sounds and so on.
 
I suppose the POD also could receive midi messages to change sounds?

    I don't think there is anyway to re-amp with the Hd500. I have one, I could be wrong of course, but it sounds like that would create a nasty loop with all kinds of feedback.

    If you have track#1 - guitar input (dry guitar, directly from your DI box or whatever. The FW1884 has a "guitar input" track) - I'll enable for record and instead of sending the sound to the monitor/master I send it to output #3. 

    Output #3 is connected to the guitar input of the HD500. 
    And I'll then connect the output of the HD500 to track #2 and #3 (for stereo)

    If I want the sound of the HD500 when playing, I'll have to enable input monitoring for track #2 and #3 I think? Or I can use headphones.... :) 

    Anyone have a clue if this would work, or will it only be a mess? 
    Someone at the Line6 forum was sceptic because of impedance, but I can not see how the impedance would be a problem? Would it be for the output from FW1884 in to HD500?

    The impedance bridges will not be ideal... but they'll work... it will not load down or hurt anything in the electronics.

    The more practical issue is that the signal coming out of the 1884 will be much much hotter than something coming from a passive pickup guitar... so turn it down a whole bunch before you plug it into the Line6 so you don't scare your self.


    You can use an actual ReAMP device if you are concerned about the impedance issues... that is what it was invented for.

    Mike is absolutely right on the signal level out of the FW.
    The other issue will be latency of the processed signal.
    Give it a try!

    Of course, I'd forgot to mention that I wanted to do this because I want to play the guitar/bass/whatever part and use my HD500 afterwards to tune my sound. 
    Just as one do with the POD Farm and so on. But my HD500 sounds a lot better than POD Farm (wish Line6 would do a POD Farm HD soon...) 

    This way I can record a dry guitar part and put it through the POD afterwards.

    I've also found out I can probably use the SPDIF out of the POD for a dry tone. 
    This way I can record both a dry tone and a processed tone at the same time. And then possibly "reamp" it later...

    I was kinda thinking thats what you were getting at with the setup but wasnt sure.


    My first thought before posting initially was to set up your Dual Tone so a Clean signal (Tone1) came out on one side and FX (Tone2) on the other, that way you could catch each seperately in Sonar and do what you wanted with them.


    Ive never tried to loop it to use the HD500 after the fact on a clean signal out of Sonar and back in.

    Yes, that is the passable way if you don't have SPDIF in. 
    But apparently the HD500 has the opportunity to set SPDIF dry out.

    Now, what would have been perfect if I could "save" the POD preset in Sonar - and when I loaded the project it also sent the sound patch to the POD....
