Thanks Dan, Lightning fast updates and fixes for so many issues. Have my new license ($60) for ver 5 thru 6.99. Only problem I have as a bottom feeder, is I can't understand anything that is being fixed. Brilliant and beautiful program. Solid as a rock. Trajectory seems to be for minds or understanding way more evolved than mine. I can read through the last hundred fixes and not comprehend what one of them means. Must be good though from the feedback, and the guys giving feedback are about demi gods in the programming realm. It keeps getting better and better, just nothing yet that I can apply in my dense real world. Notation for midi up the line and improving video support. John

Reaper is a MONSTER to fit in such a SMALL footprint...no muss no fuss no frills...just SOLID DAW...the included Rea plugins are even tolerable even though they have a very "Minimalist" UI's...

Right Larry, The Rea plugins were so GUI challenged, many of the programmers came up with slick and beautiful faces almost as an apologetics for how they represented graphically. Slick GUI's available for some of the js plugs among the resources on their web page. Did nothing for the function of the plug, but presented it in a hi class lipstick that gave it credibility to the mind of those needing an elegant interface. Me affected as well. If it is that great, needs to look great. For reference only as far as plugin formats, we got what... Vst, ax, dx, rtas, whatever else out there. Reaper devs did a beautiful offbeat approach, though many damn them to the brimstone pit (and have already) for **** with that which is philosophically off limits. They wondered, what if Jesus were reincarnated today, and was a rock musician. He blundered into Reaper to record some church music. What would he go to for effects plugins. Thus the vast expanse of native *js plugs included in Reaper. Jesussonic. Not compatible with any other DAW, but there native in Reaper. So many of them. The ReaPlugs you mention are a vst translation of the *js natives (correct me if wrong). Butt ugly, but the guts are there. All are not gems, so you have to sort through them. If you are a programmer, the js plugs can be opened in a notepad editor and tweaked to your specs. Can't do this with a vst. John

Reaper is second only to Studio One for me, I have used it for years since near the start. I own or try all the main DAW products from Pro Tools to Cubase to Ableton, bla bla, not Bitwig though or fruit loops, I only keep installed reaper and now Studio One, and Sonar, but I remove it when I finish transferring my projects to Studio One. Studio One just clicks with me, things feel like how they should be, and many great features I don't like to be without now I have them, and way of doing things, it just clicks. Reaper needs nicer look and menu system for most people, then I think more would run to it, very nice custom themes available, but many don't know and just see the standard and think hmmmm. Very good value though and very powerful, and I think the makers don't care to much about looks, more about function, maybe how it should be, but most like nice looking things, easy things. Function + Looks + Ease = Win Richard

It's certainly worth looking at as it is cheap, and different in a number of ways from many others. If you like it, you'll probably be a big fan. Me, I didn't care for it. It doesn't do things "right" for my way of thinking so I wasn't interested but it was well built and not problematic.

And Reaper has LOTS of skins for it...so you can make look as nice as you want... For those who already have a lot of 3rd party plugins...it's a steal...and even if you don't, you get plenty enough of the Rea plugs to do just about anything...howbeit they are not nice to look at...LOL

Reaper has come a long way. I've tried it out at various times and this is the first time i can honestly say it looks like a workable option for me. In fact if the upcoming notation editor (expected in 5.1 or 5.2) is workable, I'll jump. In fact looking at a combination of FL Studio /Reaper as my next DAW. (The PRV view in Reaper is the weak link, whereas FLS' is the best i have seen in any DAW (ymmv of course). I am not one to bounce from daw to daw as i get comfortable with a workflow. Reaper still has it's flaws but they're quickly addressing them.

Update: Whelp, I DL Reaper 5.04 installed yesterday. I had an issue with my mpc not showing then not unlocking- but fixed that (hint: mpc.dll file in C:/ drive ). So it seems I have what seems like a workable alternate DAW to try. Thanx guys
