Reaper question

No, I'm not jumping ship.

Since I've used no other DAW, ever, I wanted to try out Reaper for fun.

As I scanned my VST folder in Reaper I was told a few plugs were "Cakewalk Only". Does this mean I physically cannot used them in Reaper or is this just an FYI?

Unfortunately I did not make note of the ones they mentioned so I can;t say which ones they were.

there are some cakewalk plugins/vsti's/dxi's which are proprietary. I'm not sure exactly which ones either, but there are some of those which are proprietary and you can't use them in other DAWs. probably VC64, v-vocal at least.

I've never clearly sorted out which Sonar plugins are available in Reaper, and also which Reasper plugins are available in Sonar.

The Sonitus plugins are present in the Reaper Add FX list, except for the Sonitus Compressor. Not sure why.

The LE versions of Rapture and Dimension and Zeta are all available and work as expected. As do the Session Drummer 2 and most instruments of that generation.

As I recall, the older generation "Cakewalk" FX that I've tried all seem to work... they all seem show up as available.

The VC-64 shows up as available, and can be inserted, but a warning says that it can't run in the host and will be bypassed. OTOH, the LP-64 EQ and Multiband Comp both work.

V-Vocal isn't available (though I believe that Reaper comes with something that performs a similar function; not sure bout that though.) The Roland Groove Synth isn't available. But the TTS-1 is.

Some of this might be due to Reaper configuration issues on my end (though V-Vocal and the VC-64 mentioned above are surely not.) Odd that the Compressor is the odd plug out of the Sonitus set.

    Marah,

Maybe it's my laptop here at work, but I cannot load LP-64 EQ makes Reaper (v2.55) crash with a "eaper has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." dialog box. LP-64 Multiband does load.

I'm going to try it out my desktop DAW this weekend.

The LP plugins are locked to sonar and can only be used in soanr. The vintage channel is sonar only also and i think perfect space. The Transient plugin is also locked to sonoar. Basically, all the good plugins are locked...LOL

    Hi babu.

Hmmm.... I get that same Reaper crash with the LP-64 EQ. Though when I quickly checked earlier to confirm my recollection of which plugins worked in Reaper (I initially did this some months ago when I started checking out Reaper), I could swear I had both it and the Multiband working in the same project. Maybe it's the order I inserted them, or the method I used... but no, EQ isn't happening now.

But, I've definitely got the LP-64 Multiband working fine on the Reaper Master. It's playing baclk as I type this. That's the version that came with Sonar 7.

I'm also using the 7PE versions too.

On my DAW I have 8PE loaded. I'll see about that this weekend.
