Reccomendations for Phono Pre-amp

Hi,

I recently purchased a Sony PS-LX300 USB stereo turntable and a pair of Bose stereo speakers. The speakers have RCA inputs in the back, and when I went to plug the turntable directly into the speakers, it worked, but the volume was very low because the speakers don't have pre-amps in them. I really don't want to spend the money for a receiver, so I was looking for a preamp which I could use to plug the turntable into the speakers and listen to it at a good volume.

Is a preamp what I need? and what phono pre-amps would you recommend that would give me a good-quality output to my speakers? Thanks so much if you can help

Yes. A phono preamp is needed. I'm not a DJ so I can't give you a brand recommendation but that is indeed what you need. They're pretty cheap, so you should be able to pick up a decent one for $20 or $30.

Turn on this crazy little ice cream truck and set it on an album and it plays as it follows the vinyl grooves.
    The stylus is underneath.
The album plays through the little speaker on the top of the truck.
The headlights light up as it plays.

As long as the speakers are powered all you need is this.

    $39.95 + free shipping.

I've had one for a few years and it works just fine.  You definitely need a phono preamp for the RIAA equalization curve.
