Recomendation on X2 Tutorial Material

Hello,

I have finally purchased a 64bit machine and I have X2 up and running.  I upgraded to X1 from Sonar 3 last August.  I was doing my mixes on a stand alone DAW (Roland VS2480).  I slowly moved to X1.  Last week I upgraded to X2.

I'm not very good about reading manuals, I prefer video tutorials.  I bought one for the X1 (X1 Explained).  It helped me a lot but I was not too impressed with it.

This time I'm thinking of trying the "SWA Complete Sonar X2" that is offered through the Cakewalk Store.  If I do get it and like it I'll get the "SWA Mix Clinic" as well.

Anyone here tried this Tutorial Title ?
If you have tried it, please post your opinion/review on this tutorial.

Is there a video about "Whats New in X2" ?

Thanks
Ed

Edion2 - all of these Sonar resources are helpful to get you up to speed. Each one may provide further insight. Most of the free stuff on the Cakewalk site and videos from forum members is also helpful.

I think Groove3's X2 Explained is excellent and Karl's SWA Sonar X2 9 hour tutorial is long enough to cover some of the less frequently mentioned areas.

I would say that I have enjoyed and repeated views several times of the Groove3 Mixing with Sonar X1 tutorial. The material in there is still very close to X2, and the how to info in there is very practical. It's a solid walk through of working on a song end to end.

Two internal 2TB SSDs laptop stuffed with Larry's deals and awesome tools. Studio One is the cat's meow as a DAW now that I've migrated off of Sonar. Using BandLab Cakewalk just to grab old files when migrating songs.

Agree with all of this.  Groove3 Mixing with Sonar X1 is a great resource - I keep going back to it.

Karl's SWA video is a really comprehensive resource. Maybe, if you have been recording for years and are proficient with a DAW, it will contain much that you do not need or already know but if you need to know a lot... it is REALLY great and WELL worth the money. X-1 or X-2 POWER! books are great too as are all the Groove3 videos I have seen, but Karl (aka FBB) made a masterpiece with his SWA video.

    Charlie, very nice videos.

There are a lot of videos on U-Tube on "how to do" specific tasks. For now, I want a main video tutorial set. I think I'm going to go with "SWA Complete Sonar X2".

I've been recording and mixing since the days of editing tape with razor blades :) I'm very old shooled. Computer DAW is a new trick for this old dog. A new trick that has to be punded into my head, so having a good set of video tutorial that I can watch over and over is a must for me.

Thank you for all your help.

    AAAWWwwwww  rats !!!

I paid $39.95 for "SWA Complete Sonar X2" just last week.  I came back to say how great it is.

When I navigate to Cakewalk, the first thing that I see is that it is NOW FREE.  I just upgraded to X2 less than 2 weeks ago !!  Timing is not on my side  :(

I'm half way through the SWA X2 Tutorial.  Its really great.  As expected, there were several instances I had to rewind to understand exactly what was said.  But that's probably me . . . an old dog trying to learn new tricks :)  I would strongly recommend this video tutorial to all novice and accomplished users.  Now that its FREE, its a total "no brainer", specially for cross platform customers.

    Karl,

Free would have been nice . . .  But $39.95 isn't going to break my bank account.  I think the tutorial is well worth paying double . . .  I think its that good.

I don't know if your voice is "soothing" . . . LOL  I'm seeing a hypnotic relaxation CD with some mystical background music . . . mixed and mastered on X2 of course.  Hmmmm . . . another career for ya  :)

I will eventually get the Mix video as well.  Thanks for a great product.
