Recommend a Muti Track App for iPhone

Hello,

I have an iPhone 4 and was looking at the Multi-Track apps and was wondering if anyone would share their experiences and could recommend one.  I want it only for an iPhone4.  Basically I want something just to record ideas when they pop up and then later do the real work in Sonar X1 Producer.  Of course we all know how this goes, we usually want more bells and whistles as we get used to using the app.

I'm looking at the Sonoma Wire Works FourTrack  which looks pretty simple.  Lets you bounce down and has a nice demo on the AppStore. Reminds me of my Tascam Porta 01 (which I loved).      Then I thought maybe an 8 track would be better (see how this goes, actually thats how I ended up with Sonar  HS7XL years ago).

I see a lot of apps for this, but I also want to keep it simple.  Don't want to get lost in menus and editing, just some thing to get ideas down.  No external mic's or gear.  Also it has to be easy to export to Sonar.

So what are you using, how do you like it and what would you recommend?

Thanks,

Neil

    Neil,
I would highly recommend MultiTrack by Harmonic Dog.
It is very robust and fast even on some older hardware.
You have lots of flexibility when it comes to exporting audio and projects.

I have used it on several generation of iPad as well as my iPhone along with various USB audio interfaces, Alesis iO Dock and built in mics.

If you play guitar or bass AmpliTube Studio was just released. Real DAW like features and an 8 track recorder. Plus your own built in studio drummer with Loop Drummer.

Has anyone tried the Line6 interface and their POD for iOS or whatever they offer. I read one review that said it quickly drians the battery but it looks iteresting. I have the iRig but am going to take a close look at MT by Harmonic Dog before I commit to Amplitude and Studio and Drum Looper and whatever else I might want to buy. The IRig HD and the new Peavey interface are 100 bucks each. I really do not want to spend 100 bucks for an iPhone interface. I bet my Octa-Capture would work with MT but it isn't as mobile. I have an older Tascam US-122, I wonder if it would work with the lightening port, I bet it will though it would likely drain the battery fast. The OC sholudn't drain it at all since it is AC powered but if I go to all that trouble I may as well use X2... I'd be getting away from the whole purpose of using an iPhone or iPad to record. Maybe I'll catch a sale on the iRig HD or the PV interface. Going to go look at the Line6 interface now...
Hey Simeon... thanks for the heads up on MT.

I agree with Simeon. MultiTrack comes in very handy.

iRig HD also works with Macs. Many users have reported it working with Windows and ASIO 4 all as well. Plus it accepts line level inputs, so using it with hi end preamps is another option as well.

I have not tried Garageband but I have an iRig, Amplitude free, IK Fender free, H-Dog Multitrack, and Audiobus. Audiobus is one of the coolest apps I have seen.
http://audiob.us/ check out the vid, you can do ANYTHING.

Audiobus is one of the coolest things to happen to music creation apps on iOS.
