Recomputing Pictures in Track View (Gradually coming more often)-Emptying Picture Cach

Not a big issue.

Recent post solved with Beagles help (http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=2244983). It appears to be coming more and more common in having to do this as I am working in Track View. Couldnt tell from Zylers list or not if this is an ongoing problem & being addressed or not. Will monitor and keep posted. Anyone else having this occur more and more often to them?

Yeh, but how often should you have to do this? The file Im working is a lengthy recording (over 4 hours) being broken down song by song. Wonder if the size of the file has anything to do with this? I broke one song out and saved it as a seperate file and this one also had to be recomputed. Not sure but Ill check the cach again and see if there is a setting to make emptying this more often automatically.

Correction-Dont know how to empty cach. Just learned the redraw process. Sorry.  How do you empty the picture cach, I have know idea and dont see how in the Ref Guide. I am working on page 1132...

I found Scotts article on this and this is what he came up with
    http://www.digifreq.com/digifreq/tip.asp?ID=13

So this answers some but why would I continue to have this issue if it is not necessary with Sonar Automatically emptying oldest files as needed?

OK finally found the setting for raising picture cache.  (Pref/Configuration File/ scroll down to "PicCacheMB" and raised to 1500.  Now Im LOST with the emptying them out on Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. Any help or should I not worry about that and do you think it will effect any other performance issues with computer?

Mike, the only issues I have had with my picture cache.....over time, that folder really fills up and can take up space. The more it fills up, the more of a chance you can get slow wave form draws or no draws at all that make the wave file look like this ____________________

I empty mine usually once per month or when a huge project is done just to reclaim the space and make sure my wave form draws are quick, and consistent. The sign of needing to empty is when I record a track and the wave form doesn't create instantly. If it takes 6-8 seconds to draw on a small punch in, you should dump the picture cache and just have it recompute the projects you are working with. Hope this helps.
