Record Doesn't Work Anymore

I have one project where I can't record an audio track.  I can see the waveform during recording but after recording is stopped, the waveform dissapears.  I haven't noticed this in any other projects.  Any help would be appreciated.

The only time I've seen this is when I was inadvertantly recording in Punch mode and I hadn't reached the Punch in point

Thanks for the replies, but it's not that, the punch command is off.

    Maybe the project is corrupt?

Now a strange thing is happening... after I stop recording, the audio clip is moved all the way over to zero even when the recording is started at a different time location.

Have you tried a different project?

Try it and see what happens - if it behaves ok then it suggests your project is indeed corrupt.

You might also want to consider bundling up this project and send it to Cakewalk support so they can see if there is something they can tell you here or something they can pass on to development so that a code fix could be put in place.

    Thanks for the responses.

It seems like the project is corrupt, that's the only explanation I can come up with.  What's the best way to copy the tracks over to a new project?

You should be able to open 2 projects side-by-side, then just copy & paste between the 2

    Don't forget:

    1 - to re-create your buss structure
2 - to set all track outputs properly
3 - to insert all necessary sends
4 - to duplicate any automation
    5 - to duplicate panning
6 - to insert all plugins (settings tweaked where necessary)** in the original project, save as a preset and load this up in your new project**
Then you'll have to do the same with your vsti's, insering the synth, copying across the Midi etc.

Other things to consider - Tempo variations, meter/key variations, lyrics.

In your source project, set your Now time to 01:01:000. Then, when you select the WHOLE track for copying, you can paste it into your new project at 01:01:00 and your clips should all be at the correct time location

I'm sure there's more things to think of, but this is the bulk of it.
