Record Enable Follows Track Selection?

Will this be in X1 or is it already in 8.5 (I've been looking through the menus an settings for a while now)?

Example recording a vocal stack

1) Full pass of first verse
2) Go back to record harmonies parts (specific words etc.)
3) Hit record enable on Harmony A Left track
4) Record then stop
5) Press down arrow
6) Record then stop (at this point you would be recording Harmony A Right track)

and so on. This is also the workflow I use for getting that big chant/crowd vocal sound

I find this to be an awesome time saver when tracking in Cubase/Nuendo

X1 is still in budget, just crossing fingers that this feature is in there or already exists and I just don't know about it.
