Record guitar in stereo

Hi everyone !
Is it possible to record my guitar in stereo, cause i have a pedal board with stereo output , and sound great some delay and reverb in stereo.
How can i do it ?

I have a edirol interface edirol ua 4fx, it only have one input (i don't know if mono or stereo) but i'm thinking of connect 2 jack/RCA from pedal board to RCA input , in edirol to make a stereo.

Is that possible ?
Anyone know if the jack input is mono or stereo?

The Jack input is probably mono. That's usually the nature of a jack input. But if you have RCA out on your pedal board and RCA inputs on your interface, why not give it a spin

Add a stereo track and input from the stereo source on your interface, or you could record to two mono tracks, one from the left input and one for the right if you want to treat the left and right channel independently in Sonar. Adjust levels to taste and make sure no cliping or unneccesary gain is applied.

    Good luck!

Reading up on the spec of the 4fx it looks like you can record in stereo if, as you suggest, you use two jack to RCA leads.  You might however find that you get a lot less noise using the guitar direct in the High Z input and use Sonar's FX on the recorded guitar parts if you can match the sound of the effects on your pedal board.

You'll be fine... just get 2 mono cables that go from the pedal board to the Edirol.Use the Line Input Jacks (L, R) (RCA phono type)

The signal coming from the pedal board will be more than adequate to appear as line level, especially the -10dBu variant of line level.

Any concerns about hi-z loading should be addressed where the guitar pickup "sees" it load... so you make that choice with the first pedal on the board. (or if it's multiFX then what ever you are using).

I think the biggest concern will be that the pedal board will easily over load the inputs of the Edirol's -10dBu... but that's easy to deal with. Just watch your levels and have fun!!!

    best regards,
    mike

    thank you all your help!
ProjectM, no my pedalboard does not have RCA out.

By the way my pedal board is the zoom g9
    http://www.zoom.co.jp/english/products/g92tt/
I know i can control the output in the pedalboard, and i know i have too the -10dBu and +4dbu switch in the pedal board.

I really don't understand what is this

    ChannelsRecord:1 pair of stereo
    Playback:1 pair of stereo

    What cannel is this ?
does it mean that the edirol input jack is stereo ?
If so i can use a cable like this.

    http://www.sonigate.com/p...mm-Stereo-INS-1262-3-m

use the 2 mono in my zoom g9 out, and the one stereo in my edirol in.
    Is it like this ?

The other ideia, is to use a cable like this

    http://www.sonigate.com/p...x-RCA-2x-63mm-Mono-10m

2 out from zoom g9 , and 2 input in edirol RCA input.
    What sould i use?

and in sonar, how can i record stereo track ?
Do i have to create 2 audio track's, one left and other right ?

    thank you all people !!!

Start with two 1/4" TS (tip-sleeve a.k.a. mono) to RCA cables... or use adapters to make it happen.

Try the -10dBu switch first as it's a good match to the -10dBu input on the Edirol.

The +4dBu is louder... and useful for other sound I/O boxes.

    best regards,
    mike

    Hi rstudio,

I looked up the spec's for the Zoom G9 and it has USB audio so is there any special reason you want to use the Edirol 4fx?  If you are only using the 4fx to record your guitar then it might be better to use the G9 as your sound card.  Hope this helps.

    Cheers,

I'm not positive sure, but i think that the zoom only work's with cubase.
I already have edirol when i buy the zoom.
And zoom comes with cubase, and i know i have try once (not to hard) to record in sonar, and have a idea that does not work.
Sonar does not detect the zoom.
Since i have the edirol, i don't try it too hard.
but are you saying that if detect the zoom interface, i can record in stereo ?

thank you all guys, Mike,  i will buy those 2xRCA to 2xjack cable to give a try!

If it has ASIO drivers (which, according to the site below, it does), then you should see them as an option when you select which drivers to use in Sonar.

ok i will try again, but look at the site

    "
    System Requirements
Operating System: Windows XP (SP3 or later) / Vista (SP2 or later) / 7
Verified Application: Steinberg Cubase LE 4 / LE 5"

    I'll send the feedback soon, thank's !

    edit:
    Ok it work's!
i know i have try once and does not work, maybe because now there is more driver's then before.

thank you jayson if was not you, i will never try again.
    Now i have 2 question's
to record stereo, what sould i do?
When i insert a audio track, default is stereo zoom, sould i create one audio to left and other to right and REC the 2 at the same time ?

    Cheers, RStudio

    A little help.

How can i use the zoom interface to record, and the edirol interface to playback ?
I can only select one in driver's, when i select one the other stay's unselective.
But if i choose MME i can select all the driver's i have, but the sound, well is not so good.
    What can i do?

Whether you record your guitar in stereo or mono really matters on what you are trying to do ... there are no fixed hard rules.  Try one way and if that doesn't work, try the other.

As for using the zoom to record and playback with the edirol, that's not something that ASIO drivers are capable of doing.  You can only choose one driver.  MME can work but as you found out the audio quality is not that good.  Any special reason you want to do this?
