Record issues sonar X1 Studio

I am having a weird problem.  I have been using  Studio for a couple months with no problems, until yesterday when I moved it the gear. Upon re- plugging all of the Gear and attempting to listen to playback from a take, I had no sound. All of the armed tracks were registering meter activity before the take commenced, but no wave forms were created, and as the take progressed, no indication of recording occurred. Even the red line on the track, normally recording before signal is generated, was absent. 
  We were doing the session in a group, and the computer was turned on before I got there, and I suspect playback of previously recorded material may have been attempted. So it is easy to imagine that the autoconfiguation of the system set itself to the internal sound card instead of the Tascam 1641 interface we normally use, and, upon my arrival w the Tascam and its subsequent connection, this inital self -convfigure was obscured.
 But what now? Changing the various driver options does nothing- ASIO, MME, DKM, are all equally impotent. Quite embarrassing to waste 8 people's time for an evening due to a mysterious technical glitch.
