Recording Automation Question
This forum is filled with very smart and knowledgeable people. I have a puzzle for you.
I record CC11 and CC1 in realtime when recording midi tracks. The controller data is saved to the clips / track which I then convert to automation. I'd like to eliminate having to convert the controller data to automation. Automation lanes are much easier than controller lanes to edit IMHO, even with the latest enhancements to the PRV.
Here's the puzzle:
I can record directly to the automation lane but the controller data is still recorded in the track. Does anyone know a way to not record controller data to the track but still record the automation?
Some details:
To record the automation for a CC, I enable automation write on the lane and set remote control to the CC # I am recording. That allows the controller data to be written directly to the automation lane. I've tried disabling Controller data in the preferences for recording of MIDI data, but that prevents the recording of data to the automation lane as well.
I've asked this in the past, but didn't phrase it very well. So here's another shot!
Any ideas?
