Recording Issue Using Cakewalk Music Creator

I am using Cakewalk Music Creator with the Line 6 TonePort UX8 and an M-Audio Keystation 88es.

Problem 1: When I record a midi track in Cakewalk I can see the midi key presses occurring on the track as I press them, but no sound is coming out.

      Input: USB Keystation 88es In[1] - Omni
      Output: USB Keystation 88es Out[1]
      Midi Channel = 1: <default>
      Patch: Percussive Organ

Problem 2: The Line 6 GearBox application is used for guitar effects and can be heard when playing but Cakewalk only records the dry signal.  It is not getting the processed guitar.

Input: Stereo Line 6 TonePort UX8
Output To: Line 6 TonePort UX8

Any help would be great, thank you.

    Welcome, Tate.
As far as problem 1, the Keystation is a controller, and has no sound of its own.
Yo will want to insert a softsynth. TTS-1 is a good place to start, and you should have tutorials for that. If you have the box version, they would have been included on the disc. If you got the download, they are available online. Also, Guitarhacker has a TTS-1 tutorial in the Music Creator Forum. If you join us there, several people know the specifics of MC, and can help you get going.
I'm not familiar enough with the Gearbox app to help you with that.
It's most likely just a matter of routing the signal properly, and possibly a setting.

Problem 1: Try setting the output to Master if you have set things up using a master buss, if not set output to your sound card (the UX8) this should cause the soft synth to generate sound that can be heard. I suggest you route things using the master buss and not direct to the sound card (UX8).

Problem 2: This is expected behavior with the default settings. You can insert the Pod Farm as an effect on your dry recorded guitar track an chose any sound you wish. If you want to have the sound that you heard at the time you recorded the track you have to launch the Pod Farm in stand alone mode, then go to the mixer section and change the settings to processed instead of dry. See the online manual on the Line 6 web site for more detailed info about the Pod farm mixer settings. But this I hope gets you going.
