Recording audio track through JUNO - without click and other tracks
I'm trying to record some MIDI and audio using JUNO Gi and SONAR LE. I recorded a MIDI track in SONAR and it sounds fine. Next, I created an audio track in SONAR, pressed AUDIO INPUT on the JUNO, and recorded some audio, while listening to a playback of a click and the MIDI track. However, the click and the MIDI track also get recorded into the audio track... This happens even when turning the JUNO volume to zero during audio recording, so nothing comes out of the speakers. Thanks, Hagai

Welcome to the forum. Mute the tracks in SONAR that you don't want recorded on the Juno.

If I mute the other tracks then I don't hear playback, but I want to hear playback while recording audio, I just don't want the playback tracks to get mixed into the audio track. In addition I'm not sure about how to mute the click. I'm recording on the computer, and using JUNO as an audio interface, MIDI controler and sound module. I'm not using JUNO's sequencer. I think the problem is that the audio track receives all the sound that is outputed by JUNO, whereas I would expect it to receive only JUNO's audio input.

I'm not sure what you're doing. Are you recording audio into the Juno? Or recording the audio output of the Juno into SONAR? It seems like you want to listen to SONAR while recording a new part (audio) from the Juno into SONAR? But all your MIDI tracks are being played by the keyboard, including the metronome, yes? If that is the case, set up a software synthesizer in SONAR, set your MIDI outputs in SONAR to the soft synth, that way the MIDI is played in the computer and not through the Juno and thus won't get recorded from the Juno into SONAR on the audio track. You can set the metronome to play during recording, or during playback, or both, or you can turn it off completely. Depending on which version of SONAR you have, you may have an audio metronome option which will not play through the keyboard. Once you've recorded your audio tracks, you can reset the MIDI tracks to the juno if you like it's sounds better than the soft synths.

I have my JUNO connected to the speakers, a mic and the computer. Since JUNO is used as an audio interface, during over-dubbing I expect all playback output sound to go through the JUNO into the speakers. I'm recording audio from a mic through JUNO into SONAR. The metronome is set for recording "use audio metronome". The MIDI is played by the JUNO. I also tried a software synthesizer in SONAR If I add a sw synth as "simple instrument track" then it is like before (the sw synth and metronome get mixed in the new audio track). If I add a sw synth as a MIDI track then I can't hear it. Not sure how to direct its audio to JUNO, and even if I managed to do that, my guess is it would behave in the same way.

Does the keyboard have any mixer software for the audio interface part? So you can route the signals so you're only recording the new audio but not recording the output of SONAR? With my interface, I open the mixer and change it from Sound Card to Tracking.

Thanks! I finally figure it out! I changed the USB Audio to Computer value from MIX to INPUT and now everything is as expected. I actually read that PDF before but after looking again... it was all there in a somewhat subtle form: When you want the DAW to record a live set you’re playing on the JUNO-Gi, and/or live audio, you can control what gets sent to the DAW. Here’s how: 1 On the JUNO-Gi, press MENU to display the Top Menu window. 2 Select System, and then press ENTER. 3 Press 1 (GENERAL). 4 Press 6 to select the USB Audio to Computer value You can set it to • MIX—so the JUNO-Gi sends both its live-set sound and live audio to the DAW. • INPUT—so the JUNO-Gi sends only live audio dry, without effects. • INPUT FX—so the JUNO-Gi sends live audio along with any of the JUNO-Gi’s built-in BOSS input effects you’re using. When you’re in MIDI Controller mode and the DAW is playing JUNO-Gi tones and rhythms, only those tones and rhythms are sent to the DAW, regardless of the USB Audio to Computer setting.
