Recording (busy) - No Waveform! Argggh!

Hello Everybody,

Ok I'm close to tearing my hair out over this. Having not installed any new software, drivers etc. in the past few weeks, I was working on a track a few days ago when, after recording a take, the resulting clip had its normal "Recording 23 (busy)" as it computes the waveform, but then no waveform appeared! It stayed blank. I found if I zoomed in really close, it did appear, but then when I zoom out it disappeared again - all I got was the blank clip, saying "Recording 23 (busy)".

So to summarize the problem: after recording, the recorded clip shows no waveform and indicates it is "(busy)" - however I can zoom in very close and the waveform does appear. The problem is not limited to a specific project, its happening across the board (i.e. projects that were functioning correctly before-hand). Also, the audio still plays back, its just the visual waveform that is missing.

Things I've tried already:
- re-compute waveform
- Reinstalling Sonar
- Updating audio drivers
- Changing audio storage drives

Any suggestions for me? Anyone else had a similar problem?

Cheers. D.

Happens me sometimes. Bounce the audio to clip.

Please listen to my band's new (post-prog rock?!) songs at www.reclaimmusic.com all produced using sonar X1!!

Try deleting the *.WOV files in your ...\Cakewalk Projects\Picture Cache folder.

And change the value in "PicCacheMB=" line of the Aud.ini fle to anything as 2000. It will put more space for to hold the wov files.
    Greetings.

    Hey everyone,

Thanks for the quick replies - j_t\Tommy - you saved me! I had somehow deleted my 'cakewalk projects' folder, so there was no picture cache folder - I can't tell you what a relief it is, to get this fixed. Thanks again!
