Recording level issue in my setup?

Hi,
recording some guitar with my MOTU Ultralite, the VU on it shows signal about to peak and it shows about -24 in Sonar. I have to push hard the input level of Amplitube to get a proper sound. I probably miss something in here, but can't find the button to push...
Win8, X2a, MOTU Ultralite mk3, 24/88.2 project.

    Your Recording levels are not controlled in sonar. Its controlled with everything before sonar. Soar will just measure the recording level with its meters, but the recording level is not controlled inside sonar. Your sound card and everything before sonar is what you need to tweak, if tweaking is needed
