Recording mod wheel information with comping /lanes

I recorded a couple takes of a rhythmic synth in comping mode.  I then recorded a 3rd take which was just manipulating the mod wheel.
 
With lanes, should I be able to play back both one of the synth takes, plus the mod wheel take, at the same time? 
 
(I've done this before with just keyboard sounds, and in that case it seemed like I could get information from two different lanes to play back at the same time...with modulation as one of the takes/lanes though it seems as if it's one or the other.)
