Recording set up?

Hello All, Im Raven and I started to use sonar x1 since 8 months and I learnt a few tricks watching some videos and I lack knowledgment everything around had been by my own, I'm here to take some advices since Im working on a home studio and going from zero. My main problem is the recording stuff! I set up the C-1 behringer on my lexicon omega and when I record sounds good the monitoring sounds fine, but when I play it on sonar x1d the volume of my record get heavily decreased so I have to constantly normalize the track. Any help? also my main language is spanish. Greetings

    Welcome Raven.

Be sure the C1 is plugged into the inputs that supply 48v of phantom power.

A condenser mic requires phantom power to operate properly.

Check also to see if the Omega has a software control panel. My Saffire interface does. In the control panel you will find settings for input levels and output levels.  If they are not set properly, they can result in a weak signal going in to the DAW software.  I had to adjust the settings in my control panel.... and once you do, and save them , you should never need to touch them again.

You do want to have a good strong signal being recorded. Normalizing everything is not good practice since it indicates levels are low. Using normalize will boost the levels but it also can boost noise and hiss which is bad for a quality recording.

Greetings guitar hacker C1 is plugged with phantom power and the outpout volume is enough or at least I think so while recording, lexicon omega is a old interface so when I open the control panel of my lexicon there are only two options are driver mode WDM & ASIO so I'm tryign to figure out that because for example when I record at 0 db volume and that means putting the gain to max and high output volume when it comes to my DaW Sonarx1 producer sounds a lot weaker. I tried to record something just like I do on sonar on cubase 5 and I get the same volume of my record in the DaW, It is just weird for me.

You might get more help if you used some punctuation in your posts.

Erm, Daveny5, 4aven stated in his opening post that his first language is Spanish. He can make himself understood to me. Not very welcoming that's for sure...

Raven, look at the peak levels of anything you record and subsequently playback, are they low? If, as it appears, you are getting the same result in Cubase, perhaps you may want to try another mic, perhaps borrow one or something, just to eliminate or identify if the mic has a problem or not.

    Hope this helps

I imagine the Lexicon has a control panel w/ faders or the like in it, tho I've never used one.  These probably need adjustment.  YOu don't really describe the problem very well - it is likely a mismatch between your zero-latency mixer in the Lexicon (which just passes the siganl through the unit) and the return signal from SONAR.  In SONAR there is a track button that passes the recorded signal back out of SONAR, through your lexicon and onto the speakers.  If this is on, you'll be getting the signal both from the lexicon and SONAR while recording, and only the recorded signal when playing back listening.

It takes some time getting this all figured out.  IF this doesn't help resolve the problem, come back but with more detail - speakers and other hardware.
