Recording soft synth live tweaks as audio

I am using a soft synth - Alchemy in this case - with Sonar.   I am aware how to get an audio WAV of the soft synth's MIDI track (using bounce).   How is it possible though to get the result of some live tweaking, such as a changing the frequency knob whilst playback - is there  a way to save those live changes so they appear in the bounced WAV?   There does not seem to be a "W" (write) button to use in this case.

Un-bounce track, record automation using act on the synth, then re-freeze. :)
