Recording the arpeggiator's midi output in 8.5.3 PE

Maybe someone can tell me how to do this, or possibly it just can't be done.

I was trying to come up with a nice finger picked accoustic guitar part, but was not happy with any of the patterns I found in the arpeggiator files.  So, I figured I'd record the midi of one of the closest patterns to what I wanted, and then try and edit the pattern.  But it seems like I can only output the midi to a soft synth when I really want to record the midi output of the arpeggiator like onto another track and then edit.  Is there a way to do this?

Thanks,
