Recording with a Drum machine DR-880

I have recently purchased a drum machine and upon trying to run it through the usb directly into guitar tracks pro...I'm running into some problems. It doesn't seem to detect it and I didn't come across any drivers on the internet for it. Is it even possible to record directly with this machine?....because that would be genius.

    mencog,
Boss is pretty stingy with info on their site, but this is my best guess with what info was there.
The USB connection serves as an alternate path for MIDI, just like with a MIDI controller. You may be able to send tempo information from GT. I haven't explored that, but the GT literature inplies some MIDI control ability. You can't use MIDI instruments.
The audio outputs from the DR-880 can be connected to your sound card line-in and you can record the sound that way.
    Hope that helps.

The only requirement would be a cable that carries audio and fits the audio output of the drum machine and the audio input of the soundcard.

No, I would have a hard time recommending the lightsnake or a usb mic for anything.
On the back of your DR-880 you will see a red and white pair of RCA jacks. These are labelled MASTER OUT. There is a pair of 1/4" jacks directly beneath these. Using the right cable/adapter combination, you can connect either of these to the Line-In of your sound card.
If you already have something plugged into that, you might want to consider a small mixer. This way, you can have multiple, selectable inputs and you won't have to keep plugging in different stuff.

I believe there is a cable with those ends but a lot of people (including me) just use adaptors on one end or the other.
