Reel ADT in Sonar is not Working - RESOLVED

I purchased, installed, and authorized Reel ADT.  When I tried to insert it in an audio channel in Sonar:

• I only saw 32-bit versions in the VST list.
• I selected one of the 32-bit versions and it appeared in the FX Bin; however, the user interface for the plug-in was nothing but a small gray box with a slider.
• I deleted the instance from the FX Bin and selected another of the 32-bit choices.
• In this case, there was no user interface for the plug-in and Sonar locked up, requiring a PC reboot.

I noticed the following dll in the Cakewalk 32-bit VST folder (Programs x86): WaveShell-VST 9.3.dll

There is no similar dll in the in 64-bit Programs | Cakewalk folder.

At installation, I chose the Waves Licenser and Reel ADT, thinking those would be the two components I would need.

PRIMARY ISSUE: How do I fix Reel ADT so it works?

SECONDARY ISSUE: Is there a 64-bit version?  This is not a show-stopper (hopefully), but sometimes Sonar has issues when running in 64-bit and using 32-bit plug-ins.

Thank you.

    Konrad,

I followed the directions on the Waves website for Reel ADT and had no problem with it.  I installed the license(s) to a USB drive since I want to use it on another computer.  I also picked up the Tony Maserati VXT vocal plugin a week or so earlier, that's why I mentioned licenses.  Perhaps reinstall the plug noting where the vst path is; are you sure you have the 64-bit version included in Sonar's vst search path?

I should note that I had problems initially with the Maserati plugin since the way that Waves does things is rather arcane.  I finally got it going, though.  After that, the Reel ADT plugin installed and was found by Sonar easily. Don't know this helps or not...

    Regards

No problems here with it or any other waves stuff, yeah there is 64 bit, what do you have in your C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3 folder ?
    Do you see a 64 bit dll in the C:\Program Files\Waves\Plug-ins V9 folder ?
Oh, and you point Sonars VST scan thingy to the Common Files folder

There should be waveshell-VST9.3_x64.dll in the programfiles(86)\waves\waveshells folder. I would delete the 32bit waveshell in the cakewalk vstplugins folder and copy the 64bit one there then rescan vst's. Hope this helps.

The only problem I have had with any Waves stuff, is the C4 MB Comp wouldn't load the mono version, I emailed Waves support, they responded very quickly, and this is what they said

    Dear Jeffery,
Thank you for Contacting Waves Tech support.
By default, Waves is installed in C:\Program files(x86)\Waves (if you are using Windows in 64 bit).
In addition – you should not scan the Waveshell folder.
Please change it to this one:  C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3
In order to re scan Waves Plugins in SonarX3e, please follow these steps:
    1. In Sonar, go to Utilities>Cakewalk Plug-in Manager.
    2. click on the option button under VST configuration
If you are using Sonar X3, make sure you scan C:\Progam Files\Common Files\VST3check the Re-scan failed plugins and exsiting plugins
    3. click OK - Option window will get closeclick on Scan VST Plugins.
If prompt to locate Waves V9 plugins , please refer to C:\Program Files(x86)\Waves\Plugins V9.
Please note: if you are using Sonar is 32 bit, please scan the same folders under Program Files(x86).

The only thing I done differently during the install was to change the default install path from Program Files(x86) to Program Files, and change the default vst path to C:\Program Files\VstPlugins, I had Sonar pointing there for the VST scan, I removed that location from the VST scan and added the common files location like the waves dude said, bingo, C4 MB Comp Mono version working. No other probs before or since and I've been accumulating a bucket load of Waves stuff during the sales, everything is working flawlessly

Mosvalve, I located this file in the Waves folder: VST9.3_x64.dll

I copied it to the Cakewalk VST folder and now everything seems to be working fine.  I haven't tried every possible ADT mode, but I added it to a vocal track and it worked as advertised.

Thanks to all who answered here.

Konradh, I'm glad it turned out to be an easy fix. I have the ADT and tried it on a short bass guitar part that sounded great on. Haven't used it on a vocal yet. Have fun with it.

I am going to give it a good work out on my next song.  I love doubled vocals and if this sounds as good as the demo, I will be thrilled.

You are right that it is also has great possibilities for guitars and other instruments.

Thanks again and happy New Year.

By the way, common sense would say that the varispeed control in Reel ADT would cause pitch fluctuations, which we want when doubling.  Oddly, the manual never really says that.
