Reference Guide

So I was looking at how many resources we have available and thought what if we create a reference tool (emphasis on reference not absolute). Basically as a starting point to assist many. I thought what if we build an Excel tool that has as our first selection Group choices such as Drums, Guitars etc.... and then once chosen we can select specifics instruments of the Group for example if we first selected Drums the next selection would be Kick, Snare etc... Once the specific instrument was chosen it would displays tons of information such as what a good starting point EQ should be (in a graphic), what type of compressors to use with ratios, fast or slow attacks etc.... Is there one in existance and if not would we find value in it? I'm an Excel geek so putting it together would be easy, however if just for me probably would stick to my reference sheets :) Thanks

Unfortunately, such a tool is not very useful as all tracks do not sound the same, aren't used the same way in every song and require different treatments.  It would be a ton of work to put together and I am not sure there would be a lot of benefit.

It would be used as a general starting point. So as an example I have a very rough spreadsheet I put together. It currently is based on Rock as the style of music but could be expanded to tailor for more. It has macros and scripts to run the dynamic selections so first you would need to have excel, download the file, open it in excel, enable macros and content and play around with it. The scripts are completely unlocked so for those with concerns you can see what the scripts are doing which is exclusive to only the spreadsheet and will not go beyond that. Also the information it is displaying is just to get things started, not complete by any means and up for any feedback.
