Reflecting on being 54 years old!

Yesterday i played basketball for two hours with my two son in laws, one is 14 years younger and the other 18 years younger, plus my grand son was involved.

Gotta tell ya, i won the last game of 21 with a sweet turn around fall away jumper over my 6' 5" son in law.
Today i am paying the price for my folly with two sore knees, one swollen ankle, and  a stiff back!!
What the heck was I thinking!

Gotta love pride, it is truly before a crash!!

I think it might also depend on how hot it was..... like for example... here, you wouldn't even want to consider going out.... it's a stay inside or go to the lake kind of day here... or sit in the shade with a cooler full of Sam Adams .....

Hope the aches and pains subside soon, Rob. It was really hot here in Toronto today, as well.

Got you beat by a few days... or is it the other way around?
I got sore knees just reading your story.
You should visit the Coffee House more. Janet (Mamabear) always keeps everyone informed of the birthdays, if that info is public for you.

Rob... I'm gonna be 57 this year.... the key is to keep those muscles in shape with some sort of exercise.

I used to train Jujitsu and even knowing that a test was coming, I would really start working out with running and all sorts of exercise, after the test, I would always find out that there were a whole bunch of muscles that I seemed to have missed when exercising, but I used them vigorously in the test..... cause they sure were sore for a few days from all that abuse.

    Here's to getting old!

You earned every bit of it!

I am a lot better today, down to one stiff knee, and a slightly sore ankle. It was a wonderful 62 degrees here the other evening.

In the course of two hours there was three long games of Horse, two games of two on two, and two games of 21.

I really love basketball and was quite good some 30 years ago. but i don't think it loves me anymore.

My wife who was watching, said "Wow i didn't know you had all those moves around the basket".

My reply was " I was just trying to keep from getting totally humiliated, and even squashed"

Funny how when you get older your brain screams "go left go left", but your body just stands there and says "HUH"

That starts at a young age ... I think about 2 or 3 when we would scream at our kids to move it ... I don't think bodies like to be screamed at.
