Regarding X1C and the VC++ service pak mod

A day or so ago, I noticed the following patch was pushed to my (Win7x64) Windows Update queue: Security Update for Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package (KB2565063) Download size: 9.8 MB Since

I only accept updates manually, it's still in the queue. I thought I'd seen some discussion about X1C updating the VC++ service pack, but can't find a relevant thread at moment. There seem to be some deep problems reported for X1C. Noting that it and this WU patch were released around the same time, I'm wondering if each patches the C++ service pack to a different version, thus accounting for some of the problems being reported? For example, could some folks who permit WU to complete automatically have had the X1c update corrupted by this patch?

As a hobbiest, using X1C less frequently than many here, I haven't encountered a serious issue. But I don't have a dedicated DAW, just SP X1Cx64 running on my Win7x64 desktop, and I don't want to screw it with this VC++ service pack update. On the other hand, I don't want to take on extra security risk by not running it. Is this even a viable concern? Would appreciate some tech savvy insight on this.

Thx, Ron

Incidentally, having editing problems (Firefox). Can't get my paragraphs to parse. Preview mode doesn't seem to work either. What am I missing?

Looks like I can edit normally in IE.  Something must have changed in Firefox - speculated by a guy who thinkis he knows what he's doing when updating browsers  ):
