Reinstalling Sonar X1 :-(

Hey!

I just reinstalled Sonar X1d Producer. Man... It's such a CHORE to do! I really hope that Cake fixes this in the future. As it is now you download and install X1 and then numerous patches, expansions for the prochannel etc. I dont know how many times I had to enter my name, serials etc... Feels like I've been installing for hours!

I want a client that gets all info from my account. Why not something simple like the Waves-installer? You just download the app and put a checkmark for all the products you want installed and then get the licenses from the cloud. You just sit back and relax.

I also would like Sonar to save important settings to the account so that you wouldnt have to redo them every time you reinstall. Things like customised menues, plugins layouts (or what do you call them?) etc... Sure I could export the settings manually. But you really shouldnt have to. It should be automated.

Reinstalling just sucks a$$!!!

Cake, anyone from you guys out there listening? Can we please have this in the future? I would pay for such an upgrade.

I don't know about the OP, but after I upgraded my wave bundles, X1 got very unstable, and every time I applied a wave plug the program crashed.  After unintalling and reinstalling the wave plugs several time, I decided to try uninstalling and reinstalling X1.  Big Mistake.   I followed some instructions that were in another thread of the formum but I was never able to get a funcitonal X1 up again on the hard drive I initially had it installed on.  The only way I was able to get up and running again was to do a clean install of windows 7 on another HD, and install X1 on that.

I actually didnt have to reinstall my computer but I installed Sonar on a laptop computer just to see if a laptop fits my needs for music making.

But I'm one of these guys who reinstall my computer on a regular basis for several reasons. I'm quite geeky when it comes to hardware and I change stuff like processor and mainboard a lot. Always chasing performance. Not because I need it. But because I enjoy it.

There are pros and cons to the serial number registration. Yes, you have to enter it manually. But, certain other licensing schemes hinder, shall I say, flexibility.

Not to threadjack ... But installing the sample libraries is a big chunk of the install time. Say you want to do a fresh reinstall of Windows and/or Sonar on your OS disk.

Assuming your libraries are installed on a separate HD, is there a way to skip the library installation but tell Sonar where they are located?

The part I'm complaining of is that I had to download Sonar X1 Producer, unpack it all, install. Then download patches, install. And then install exapanded and patches etc... VERY tedious work. And every installation required entering name, company and serial PLUS activation code.

I'm just talking about the Cake stuff. Sample libraries not included.
